THE AVENGERS

So, with the Kree/Skrull rumor debunked, it's time for the Demi Lovato rumor to lose its steam. According to The Hollywood Reporter, "Sources inside Lovato's camp as well as Marvel's, however, said there was no truth to the rumor, denying across the board Lovato's involvement. Part of the problem in hiring the actress is that she's currently in rehab 'for emotional and physical issues.'" Well, that's a good reason to deny someone work. The article goes on to mention there is an effort to add another female role to the film. Meanwhile, Mark Ruffalo tells The Belfast Telegraph (via Comic Book Movie) appearing in the film is "[like] taking a flying f**k at a rolling donut in these movies because you don't exactly have a finished script." The key thing about this film, however, is the people involved. "Robert [Downey Jr.] calls me, and he's like, 'This is gonna be fun.' Because we worked together on Zodiac."

Directed by Joss Whedon & starring everybody, release date: May 4th, 2012

SUCKER PUNCH

Brendon Connelly at Bleeding Cool gleans the previously announced 2D-only film will have a 3D exhibition after all from this BFI booklet:

"Could Samsung and the BFI really be so far behind the curve? Well… yes. I suppose they could be, if this program was booked that far in advance. For now though, during the quiet Christmas-to-New-Year lull when there’s not really anybody in press offices to answer such questions, I’ll be wondering – will Sucker Punch be coming at us in 3D after all? he asks. I echo that sentiment.

Release date: March 25th, 2011

SPIDER-MAN: TURN OFF THE DARK

As the good folks at Robot 6 reported yesterday, actress Natalie Mendoza -- who was to play the new villain Arachne -- has left the production after suffering a concussion during an early preview performance. Her understudy is expected to take over the role. The musical really does seemed cursed and considering how superstitious the theater world is, can the show be long for this world?

Opens: 2011

GREEN LANTERN: THE ANIMATED SERIES

Comics Continuum (via Comic Book Movie) has a few interesting details about the upcoming series, including this: "The Manhunters will play a significant role in the second half of the first season of the upcoming Green Lantern series." They also say to expect a preview in the Fall, much like the "Young Justice" pilot.

Airdate: 2011

DOCTOR WHO

Thanks to DoctorWhoTV, we have this BBCAmerica promo for the upcoming season. Portions of the premiere story were shot in Utah, marking the first time principle photography for the series has occurred in the United States. Naturally, the Doctor is still confused about where and when he is:

Returns: Spring 2011

WEDNESDAY ON HOLIDAY

Would you believe I'm having a hard time finding "Tron Revolution" for rent? My local Blockbusters only have one or two copies. I guess I'll just wait till the new year to give it a try. And while I'm thinking about the end of the year, what were some of your favorite rumors of 2010? It could either be things that turned out dead on or wildly inaccurate. I may mentions a few tomorrow and Friday. Meanwhile, if any of you in the great, wide Internet discover something awesome, disheartening, or just plain weird, let us know! Take credit, come up with a clever nickname, or go anonymous. The choice is yours. Fresh rumors and movie news every weekday morning. I am Erik Amaya, bracing for the future threat of New Year's Day
