THE GREEN HORNET

Director Michel Gondry talks with Variety about the perils of making a major motion picture. "Basically, the concept of working on a big-budget film is that you have to think about the audience a little bit more than usual," he says. "There are recipes that the studios apply that make successful movies, but there's also a pretty strong unknown factor, and in this unknown area is where I could play and bring more personal stuff.

Staring Seth Rogen, release date: January 14th, 2011

SPIDER-MAN: TURN OFF THE DARK

Deadline reports actress T.V. Carpio will take over the role of Archane in the show. The previous actress, Natalie Mendoza, left the show after suffering a concussion during an early preview performance. Carpio worked with director Julie Taymor on "Across the Universe" and was already in the show with a different part. Despite all the troubles plaguing the production, it is the number three money maker over the New Year's Weekend on Broadway, according to The Hollywood Reporter. "The long-plagued 'Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark,' which is still in previews, was a close third, grossing an impressive $1.88 million," they write.

Opens: Soon?

JOHN CARPENTER'S THE WARD

Bleeding Cool found this partial trailer for John Carpenter's new film, his first feature film in a decade:

THE CAPE

Actor James Frain talks about his role on the series with The Los Angeles Time's Hero Complex blog. "It's a sophisticated idea of someone who doesn't have superpowers but has a very focused strategy," he says of his character Chess. While the characters on the show recall other superheroes and villains, Frain explains it is all with an intent. "The world they're in is recognizable. It has a respect and enthusiasm for the superhero genre, which plays out in the writing," he adds.

Airdate: January 9th, 2011

HUMAN TARGET

Target 419 has descriptions of the episodes airing January 5th and 12th. Both nights will feature back to back episodes getting us through episode 10. I'll leave the descriptions behind the link in case they reveal something spoilertastic.

Airs: Wednesdays

SMALLVILLE

As we reported here at CBR earlier this morning, DC's Source blog released this teaser image for the show:

I guess it's almost time for that suit. Maybe they'll use the fanfare, too.

Airs: January 29th, 2011

2012

No, I'm not thinking that far ahead. Cinematical reports NASA has named Roland Emmerich's "2012" the most absurd action film of all time. Having watched it only recently with someone who works for NASA, I can tell you it is, indeed, absurd. It's also rather boring. Other movies on the list include "Armageddon" and "Volcano." Meanwhile, if any of you in the great, wide Internet discover something awesome, disheartening, or just plain weird, let us know! Take credit, come up with a clever nickname, or go anonymous. The choice is yours. Fresh rumors and movie news every weekday morning. I am Erik Amaya, bracing for the future threat of that actual year.
