X-MEN: FIRST CLASS

Jennifer Lawrence talks with Parade Magazine about preparing to play Mystique. "I psyched myself out about [wearing only body paint for X-Men]. But then on the actual day, the only thing you're worried about is sitting on things and not rubbing your scales off. It mostly becomes a maintenance problem and the last thing you think about is, 'Oh right, I'm virtually naked.'" On that latter front, the actress started a fitness regiment designed to maintain her curves. "I'm so sick of seeing these skinny little women and thinking I'm supposed to look like that and thinking young girls think they should also look like that," she explains. "But of course there was working out: I had a trainer and I had a nutritionist. I worked out for two hours a day for seven days a week. I thought when I started doing it, 'Oh my god, I'm going to be so skinny.' But I ended up bulking up a little bit."

DYLAN DOG: DEAD OF NIGHT

Hang in there, Dylan, the movie will be out soon.

THE AVENGERS

Mark Millar suggests to STV (via Comic Book Movie) that the film could precipitate a downturn in superhero movies. "I think it's going to be difficult is once you've done that thing of putting all those characters in one film… you know, its like having Harry Potter, James Bond and Spider-Man all in one movie. I think what'll be difficult then is to try and top that because people want to see it get bigger," he explains. "I anticipate things starting to slow down round about 2014 and 2015. I think that's when it will really start to flat line a bit and we're going to see our first failures." Hopefully, we'll get a "Flash" movie before then.

Directed by Joss Whedon & starring everybody, release date: May 4th, 2012

RED SONJA

While talking with Moviefone, Amber Heard responds to the rumor that she's up for the title role. "I was sort of surprised to hear about it, yeah. I think (producer) Avi (Lerner) even said himself, 'She doesn't know it yet.' So I was surprised," she says. "But also it's something I've been looking at for a while and kind of interested in. I'm definitely interested in being a part of it, but that's all I can kind of comment on right now." Sounds like there could be a deal in the works.

Release date: TBA

SUCKER PUNCH

According to Collider, the soundtrack will be released on March 22nd and feature songs from a few of the actors in the film. As stated in the press release, "The film's star Emily Browning covering 'Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This)' (Eurythmics), 'Where Is My Mind?' (The Pixies), and 'Asleep' (The Smiths), and stars Carla Gugino ('Watchmen') and Oscar Isaac ('Robin Hood') performing a sultry, musical theatre-inspired version of 'Love Is The Drug' (Roxy Music)." Trippy. I wonder how much of that music will make its way into the final film.

RISE OF THE APES

Latino Review has the first still from the film, featuring James Franco in a lab:

PROMETHEUS

According to Brendon Connelly at Bleeding Cool, their are aliens in the film, but they will not be recognizable at first. "Remember how the alien took on canine qualities after gestating in a dog? You may even suppose that the first film's alien was so recognisably humanoid because it had grown in a human. The same applies here: generation by generation, the creature mutates. As 'Prometheus' begins, the xenomorph is not too recognisable. Sure, it has that alien DNA that Scott and Fassbender teasingly referred to, but it's missing… well, it's missing human DNA. Or dog DNA," he writes. This concept has been sitting around along time, appearing in some "Alien 3" scripts and leading to the more canine creature in that film. Connelly's source also mentions, "There's nothing we're calling a space jockey here," reffering to rumors of an eight foot replica of the weird pilot from "Alien." Of course, the Space Jockey could have a proper name now.

Release date: June 8th, 2012

SPIDERMANN

The New York Times reports that a third "Spider-Man" musical is coming to town. "'Spidermann,' which was presented earlier this year in Seattle, is the handiwork of Jose Bold, the stage name of the artist John Osebold," they write. "[It] is described in a press release as 'a hastily-constructed abstract musical' that 'threads together elements of the original comic book story, references to the buzz-heavy Broadway debacle, songs stripped down to their essential core, and dreamlike video sequences to create a new mythology in an art-house style.'" Well, sounds like a ripping good time. The show opens at The Tank in New York for three performances starting March 13th, two days before "Turn Off the Dark's" expected opening.

Opens: March 13th, 2011

SMALLVILLE

Here at CBR, we have a clip from tonight's episode, "Fortune."

WEEKEND FRANCO

Get me a rum drink and a place to sit -- it's the weekend! Between a family get-together, the UFC match, and the Oscars, there might be some time to rest. Oh, did you know James Franco is hosting the awards show this year? He even reprised his role as "Franco" on "General Hospital" this week and teased his other persona's upcoming job. Hopefully, the Awards Ceremony will be as fun. Meanwhile, if any of you in the great, wide Internet discover something awesome, disheartening, or just plain weird, let us know! Take credit, come up with a clever nickname, or go anonymous. The choice is yours. Fresh rumors and movie news every weekday morning. I am Erik Amaya, bracing for the future threat of the week ahead.
