Official Press Release
ORANGE, CA -- 2 February, 2004 -- With the first three issues of THE WALKING DEAD sold out and Robert Kirkman and Tony Moore's horror/adventure series continuing to attract buzz, Image Comics has announced that a trade paperback collecting THE WALKING DEAD #1-6 will hit shelves in April.
Written by Kirkman with art by Moore, THE WALKING DEAD has received widespread critical acclaim over the past several months, attracting some of the most glowing reviews of any Image title since the debut of POWERS. Despite rising initial orders, inclusion in Diamond's overship program and a commitment to overprinting, the first three issues have sold out within days of reaching stores, and for many readers, THE WALKING DEAD, VOL. 1: DAYS GONE BYE TP will be their first chance to finally give the series a try.
"THE WALKING DEAD has been a huge success for Tony and I," Kirkman said. "We've just been blow away by the amount of support we've received for this book, but the thing is... We're still not satisfied. We still want more people to read THE WALKING DEAD!"
With that in mind, Kirkman noted that the first trade paperback will be shipping with a special low price aimed not only at cost-conscious current fans, but potential new readers as well.
"We knew we wanted to do something special for the TPB to try and grow our readership," he explained. "We figured that at $9.95, for six issues of a book receiving the kind of rave reviews THE WALKING DEAD is getting, people won't be able to resist. We're also planning on shipping the trade on the same day as issue #7, so that new readers can grab the first seven issues all in one day."
THE WALKING DEAD, VOL. 1: DAYS GONE BYE, a 144-page trade paperback with a cover price of $9.95, is available for order in the February issue of Previews with an in-store date of April 7.
