COWBOYS & ALIENS

"The trick of this thing and the beauty of this thing is that it's a cowboy movie first and then stuff happens," Harrison Ford tells The Los Angeles Times Hero Complex. "Even after stuff happens it doesn't change — it hasn't suddenly changed into another kind of movie. It's still a cowboy movie. And that's what's incredible about it because nobody has done that before, that's new territory." Talking with the LA Times during their visit to the set, the veteran actor also praised director Jon Favreau. "[He] surprised me with his spirit and his insight, and I only say that I was surprised because I knew him better as an actor than as a filmmaker. He's a very clever actor but as a director he's shown that he can solve the problems that come up every day and not become mechanical."

Starring Daniel Craig, release date: July 29th, 2011

CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER

Chris Evans talks with MTV News about Cap's further adventures in "The Avengers" and potential sequels:

They also have a new still from the film featuring the character brandishing his famous shield:

Okay, he's using it for cover, but it still looks pretty cool.

Starring Chris Evans, release date: July 22nd, 2011

DYLAN DOG: DEAD OF NIGHT

Here at CBR, I talked with director Kevin Munroe during my visit to the New Orleans set. He talked about the film's use of practical effects, like the creature suit that turned actor Brian Steele into a Super Zombie. "It feels tangible ... That's the thing that amazes me: You get guys like Brian in the costume, and they're just on fire." Meanwhile, I Am Rogue.com spoke with Munroe, star Brandon Routh and actor Sam Huntington:

Release date: April 29th, 2011

TEN

According to Variety, director Peter Cornwell is set to direct "Ten," based on the graphic novel by Shannon Eric Denton, Keith Giffen and Andy Kuhn. The article mentions that "Ice Cube is negotiating to star."

Release date: TBA

IRON MAN 3

Director Shane Black will have a hand in writing the script after all. Cinema Blend (via Spinoff Online) reports that they've "heard from multiple, completely trustworthy sources that Shane Black is in fact writing 'Iron Man 3.' He'll co-write the movie with ['No Heroics' creator Drew] Pearce and word is that his ideas are behind a lot of what's happening with the script they're working on." I certainly hope so. Black is a great writer with credits like the first "Lethal Weapon" and "Kiss Kiss Bang Bang." Reportedly, there is some worry about Black's tendency toward R-rated material, but I'd imagine if he signed on the dotted line, then he knows how far he can push. As Spinoff's Kevin Melrose points out, the guy wrote "Monster Squad."

Release Date: May 3rd, 2013

CONAN THE BARBARIAN

MTV News has a new photo of star Jason Momoa as the Cimmerian:

Release date: August 19th, 2011

THOR

Chris Hemsworth talks with the LA Times Hero Complex about working with Mjolnir. "It's not the most practical thing, when you first come to it, to think of a giant, flat hammer as a weapon," he says. "Realistically, it wouldn't be weighted right for anyone to use it if the handle was only so long. So the main thing coming in was to make the hammer an extension of Thor. We had to develop a style of movement that was singular, really, to this character. We looked at Mike Tyson and that very low, powerful, very aggressive stance — a big-shoulder, big-hip stance that suggests coiled strength."

Starring Chris Hemsworth, release date: May 6th, 2011

THE AVENGERS

Marvel has released the first official photo from the film:

Good thing they have those chairs ready for the stars. I imagine Hulk would be very angry if he didn't have a place to sit down.

Directed by Joss Whedon & starring everybody, release date: May 4th, 2012

THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN

MTV News warns that the following video with actor Dennis Leary could contain a massive spoiler about the film's ending. Proceed with caution.

Release date: May 28th, 2012

SMALLVILLE

Entertainment Weekly has a couple of photos from Lex's return to the show. In this one, he and Clark are together again:

Airs: Fridays

AVENGERS ASSEMBLED

All kidding about the chairs aside, I'm really impressed that there is a big budget "Avengers" film with marquee talent being made as we speak. When I was a young film geek with an interest in comics, I don't think I ever believed such events could transpire. Back then, we were all hoping for James Cameron to make "Spider-Man." Real life is often stranger than Reel Life. Yes, I used that pun. Meanwhile, if any of you in the great, wide Internet discover something awesome, disheartening, or just plain weird, let us know! Take credit, come up with a clever nickname, or go anonymous. The choice is yours. Fresh rumors and movie news every weekday morning. I am Erik Amaya, bracing for the future threat of the superhero team-up movies to come.
