X-MEN: FIRST CLASS

The boys from Slashfilm and Collider have seen the movie and give it a fair amount of praise. They compare it to "X-Men 2" and even the recent "Star Trek" reboot. Here's video:

Meanwhile, HeyUGuys talked with director Matthew Vaughn about the film and its lack of 3D presentation. "You know when they do this post-conversion shit, and then you can't even – It cut's[sic] too quick. They've cut it in 2D, and in 3D, you've got to slow it down. I find the glasses annoying, and my kids hate it as well, and they take the glasses off halfway through. I'm like, 'no, you've got to watch it with them on,' and they don't care. Maybe I should be more of a fan," he says. Finally, Spinoff Online spotted this clip from the film, revealing Charles Xavier's first meeting with Raven Darkholme:

Release date: June 3rd, 2011

GREEN LANTERN

Even Green Lanterns need milk as the ad posted on Access Hollywood (via Superhero Hype) proves:

The superheroes are getting interesting endorsements these days. Insurance, milk ... I can't wait for the time when Wolverine sells diabetes (er, diabetus) testing supplies.

Starring Ryan Reynolds, release date: June 17th, 2011

COWBOYS & ALIENS

Time for a new "Cowboys & Aliens" TV spot:

It still looks good, even in a thirty-second bite.

Starring Daniel Craig, release date: July 29th, 2011

CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER

Dominic Cooper tells MTV News that the film will have "touching" elements:

Starring Chris Evans, release date: July 22nd, 2011

THE ADVENTURES OF TINTIN: THE SECRET OF THE UNICORN

Bleeding Cool spotted this interesting swipe-file in an ad for a range of tie-in collectible cards:

This one card surprised BC's Brendon Connelly for its graphic nature until he discovered the source of the pic at Deviant Art:

Oops. The ad is legit, so someone in the marketing department grabbed the picture and slugged it in without bothering to change it to an official image. At the same time, Deviant Art user Benef might find some work coming his way.

Directed by Steven Spielberg, release date: December 23, 2011

THE HOBBIT

The film's woes return. The Sydney Herald reports two workers were hospitalized after an explosion on set. Well, maybe not an explosion as such, according to unit publicist Ceris Price who tells the paper that the workers were drilling a statue and "one of them had some burnt nostril hairs and, apparently if that's the case, there is always the risk of inhalation so they get checked out." I can't tell who's obscuring the truth more; the paper or the publicist. Either way, I imagine this incident isn't as bad as some of the other troubles to befall the production.

Release date: 2012

G.I. JOE 2

Eric Stafford at WHKYTV-14 in Hickory, North Carolina asked director John Chu about the sequel and got the response on video to share with us all:

Release date: August 10th, 2012

IN FIRES OF THE GUMDROP MOUNTAINS

I usually avoid news about the board game movies, but this one caught my eye. According to Entertainment Weekly, "Candy Land" writer Jonathan Aibel is comparing the story to "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy. "We don't see it as a movie based on a board game, although it has characters from that world and takes the idea of people finding themselves in a world that happens to be made entirely of candy where there are huge battles going on," he says. "We are going for real comedy, real action, and real emotions at stake." Well, I suppose that's good. I know I've seen some intense human drama during rounds of "Candy Land" as kids learn you can't win all the time or agree to alter the rules so they can reach the Candy Kingdom together. Meanwhile, if any of you in the great, wide Internet discover something awesome, disheartening, or just plain weird, let us know! Take credit, come up with a clever nickname, or go anonymous. The choice is yours. Fresh rumors and movie news every weekday morning. I am Erik Amaya, still waiting for the future threat of a "Fireball Island" movie.
