DAREDEVIL

As our pals at Spinoff Online reported yesterday, "Fringe" writer/producer Brad Caleb Kane has been tapped to write a new script for director David Slade. "Kane is being asked to adapt one of the most influential and acclaimed comic stories of all time, Frank Miller and David Mazzucchelli's 'Born Again,'" they report. Good luck Mr. Kane. Fans everywhere want this one to work.

TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES

Kane isn't the only writer with a weighty project this morning. Deadline reports that "Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol" writers Josh Appelbaum and Andre Nemec will take on the Ninja Turtles for Paramount and Michael Bay's Platinum Dunes company. If you look at the comments in the Deadline article, there's equal parts dread and enthusiasm for this news.

THE NYE INCIDENTS

Heat Vision reports that the Whitley Strieber/Craig Spector comic is coming to big screen with director Todd Lincoln at the helm. The project centers on "seen-it-all and logical medical examiner whose faith in the rational is shattered when she runs afoul a brutal murder of a supposed alien abductee. The case puts her on the path chasing a serial killer working in the alien abductee community who may or may not be human."

GREEN LANTERN: EMERALD KNIGHTS

Directors Lauren Montgomery and Jay Olivia spoke with CBR about the newly released DC Universe Animated Original movie. " Being able to focus on each character by using the vignettes was really helpful in this movie. If we had done a more linear movie where it was just a group of Green Lanterns working together, you might not get an opportunity to really focus on each one. By using the vignettes, we get to really highlight each individual Lantern and we don't even have to focus on any of the other others," says Montgomery. "We were very much following the same footsteps as 'Gotham Knights,' which was released a couple of years ago. But that was really just a series of short stories. With 'Emerald Knights,' we wanted to tie the stories in a little closer. In 'Gotham Knights,' it was, 'Here's a story, cut to black. Here's another story, cut to black.' There wasn't really any through line. It's more like 'Pulp Fiction,' where these are all little snippets that are connected to the overall film. I think it's a really neat way of doing it," adds Olivia. Montgomery also teased the upcoming "Batman: Year One" and "Justice League: Doom" movies.

Release date: Out Now!

THE WALKING DEAD

Spinoff Online reports that filming of the second season begins on the highways of Georgia this week. "A stretch of highway in southern Henry County, home to the Atlanta Motor Speedway, will be closed through Thursday night while scenes for the AMC drama are filmed," they write. "The Georgia Department of Transportation issued a press release in March advising motorists to avoid the area because of 'ongoing road work,' a move designed to cut down on people showing up to watch production." Okay, Reelers, you know the drill. I want pictures.

SERIES SEVEN

Bleeding Cool reports that the BBC took an unusual move in announcing the seventh season of "Doctor Who" early to combat a rumor that BBC Wales, which produces the show, intended to make a truncated run in 2012. According to head writer Steven Moffat, "14 eps + Matt DEFINITELY. I've got a plan and I'm NOT TELLING YOU WHAT IT IS. Now hush or River shoots you with her Spoiler Gun." I don't need to know the plan, I just need to know that the show will continue at full clip with Matt Smith still in the role. Meanwhile, if any of you in the great, wide Internet discover something awesome, disheartening, or just plain weird, let us know! Take credit, come up with a clever nickname, or go anonymous. The choice is yours. Fresh rumors and movie news every weekday morning. I am Erik Amaya, bracing for the future threat of another year of "Doctor Who" specials.
