COWBOYS & ALIENS

Heat Vision spotted this new featurette concerning the film. It includes sound bites from Steven Spielberg and Ron Howard.

Meanwhile, IGN has a new poster image:

Starring Daniel Craig, release date: July 29th, 2011

CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER

Superhero Hype has a new featurette called "Behind the Shield" that's all about Cap's signature tool:

As it happens, Director Joe Johnston tells The Los Angeles Times Hero Complex that shield-throwing is a special, reserved trick in the film. "The whole thing about throwing the shield was given a lot of thought," he says. "He just doesn't do it a lot in the movie. I'd say maybe four of [sic] five times? But when he does, it's a big deal; he really saves the day." Maybe it's just me, but four or five times seem like plenty.

Starring Chris Evans, release date: July 22nd, 2011

CONAN THE BARBARIAN

Spinoff Online spotted a new red band trailer for the film:

Well, it certainly gets one point across: there will be (stage)blood!

Release date: August 19th, 2011

GREEN LANTERN

As we reported yesterday here at CBR, the film opened to a soft $52.7 million dollars over the weekend. Weak reviews and a phenomenon known as "3D fatigue" may have contributed to the debut that fell short of expectations.

Starring Ryan Reynolds, release date: June 17th, 2011

MEN IN BLACK III

The Daily Mail might be oddly obsessed with the filming of this movie, but at least we get set-pics like this one:

Don't they just look cuddly together?

Release date: May 25th, 2012

THE DARK KNIGHT RISES

Michael Caine tells Collider this interesting tidbit of his role in the film: "As the butler, I do a load of filming at the beginning, and everybody goes off and does all the adventures and they all come home shot to pieces and I patch them together when they all get back." So, I guess it's an expansion of his early scene in "The Dark Knight." Collider's Steve Weintraub notes the plural pronoun Caine used and writes, "Does this mean Batman has a partner like a Robin?  Or maybe he's partnered with Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle/Catwoman?  Perhaps it's nothing…" I suppose that means it's time to start another wacky rumor. Joseph Gordon-Levitt's character is actually The Question. He and Batman team up, but when both are injured, he reaches out to a young beat cop named Rene Montoya to take his place. It's no wackier than this supposed teaser trailer that appeared online over the weekend:

Release date: July 20th, 2012

THE HOBBIT

Peter Jackson let it be known via his Facebook page that Barry Humphries (Dame Edna) will play the Goblin King and Evangeline Lilly will play an Elf named Tauriel. Presumably, she'll start a love triangle between Legolas and a new character named Sawyerelendil that will just run around in circles and bored everyone to tears.

Release date: December 14th, 2012 & December 13th, 2013

BATMAN LIVE

Reeler Stephen sent in this link to a news item at The Sydney Morning Herald about the designer of the show's Batmobile. Sadly, it can't be embedded and it will autoload when you click through. One interesting highlight, the car is powered by a new hydrogen fuel cell technology. Now that's thinking like Bruce.

Release date: July in the UK, August 2012 in the US.

BARBECUE IN REVIEW

Black Bean Quinoa Salad. Don't knock it till you try it. The weekend barbecue went pretty well ... considering food was ordered and I didn't have to grill. I did make more than enough margaritas and someone brought an ice cream cake that was epic. Meanwhile, if any of you in the great, wide Internet discover something awesome, disheartening, or just plain weird, let us know! Take credit, come up with a clever nickname, or go anonymous. The choice is yours. Fresh rumors and movie news every weekday morning. I am Erik Amaya, bracing for the future threat of the next event.
