GHOST RIDER 2: SPIRITS OF VENGEANCE

Nicolas Cage talks with Collider about developing Ghost Rider as a character. "When I was trying to think with Brian [Taylor] and with Mark [Neveldine] about how the Ghost Rider would move, because they both really wanted me to play Ghost Rider in this, I was thinking about trying to find something really weird, which would be like levitating in circles," says the actor. "We called it 'the compass' together, to mess with how he would attack his enemies. And then, I looked up in the dictionary, and the word weird literally means 'to turn around,' so I thought that was an interesting thing. But, it was like trying to design a body language from another dimension." Since I've rode the "Nic Cage head on fire" joke pretty hard the last few days, I'm giving it the rest of the week off. Meanwhile, here at CBR, we have an interview with actor Johnny Whitworth, who plays Blackout in the film. "I'd say with this version of Blackout, he starts off as a sociopath with homicidal tendencies but then becomes a real sadist/psychopath," says the actor. He also confirms that the character begins as a human, but is transformed by the Devil.

Release date: February 17th, 2012

THE DARK KNIGHT RISES

Cosmic Book News reports a press conference will be held in Pittsburgh later today regarding the film's arrival in town. "Director Chris Nolan, Producer Emma Thomas, Executive Producer Kevin De La Noy and Christian Bale in attendance," the write. They also link to this photo from The Pittsburgh Post-Gazzette revealing how the city is welcoming the production:

Release date: July 20th, 2012

COWBOYS & ALIENS

In my continuing series of "Cowboys & Aliens" interviews for CBR, actress Olivia Wilde discusses her affinity for mysterious characters. "I think every great character has a great secret; I think that's the trick to creating a great character in a film. I always try to pick one secret that the person is holding," she explains. "I think it makes it more interesting and layered that what you're saying is not always what you're thinking ... Sometimes a secret is bigger than others. Both for 'Tron' and 'Cowboys,' she's holding a big secret." Also, my review of the film is up. I think it's a solid movie with a great group of actors, but it might be too slow for some popcorn movie fans.

Starring Daniel Craig, release date: July 29th, 2011

THE AVENGERS

The Los Angeles Times Hero Complex caught up with Marvel Studios president Kevin Fiege and asked him about the Hulk as he'll appear in the film. "It will be as different as "The Incredible Hulk" was from Ang Lee's "Hulk" in terms of its look and design, but it is Hulk," he said. "Hulk is Hulk. We're not going to reinvent the wheel." The Hulk will be roughly the same height as he was in his last feature outing, but "not as cut." The face will also resemble actor Mark Ruffalo. Looking at the poster released during Comic-Con, it now occurs to me just how much Ruffalo actually resembles the Kirby Hulk.

Directed by Joss Whedon & starring everybody, release date: May 4th, 2012

THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN

JoBlo.com took video of their Comic-Con interviews with the cast, including Rhys Ifans prior to his altercation with Comic-Con staff:

Release date: May 28th, 2012

THOR 2

Star Chris Hemsworth tells the Hero Complex that he's sad to see director Kenneth Branagh go. "Ken built that character, and everything I know about the Thor world I learned while shoulder-to-shoulder with Ken. I learned so much from him," says the actor. Hey Marvel, may I humbly suggest original "Conan" director John Milius as a replacement for the Shakespeare guy? Yeah, he hasn't directed a feature in twenty years, but he's the exact sort of crazy "Thor" requires ... especially if there's any Asgard material in the sequel.

Release date: TBA

G.I. JOE: RETALIATION

With "Star Trek 2" warping to another movie season (oh, the puns!), Deadline reports that the "G.I. Joe" sequel is taking over June release date vacated by the tardy Federation follow-up. It's also getting a new name that I don't like as much as "Cobra Strikes."

The changes have been reflect both above and below in this item.

Release date: June 29th, 2012

TALES FROM THE CRYPT

Deadline also reports that a new series based on the EC Comics anthology is in the works. Gil Adler, producer of the original HBO television series and "Eureka" creator Andrew Crosby are behind the project. "It will be an ongoing series that uses characters from the comic books in a more modern context," Cosby explains. The producers are currently shopping the idea around town, but I'd like to announce my interest in voicing the Crypt Keeper. I have a good ankle-bone on it. HAHAHAHAHA! (Oh, will the puns ever stop?)

Airdate: TBA

THE WALKING DEAD

In a move that surprises no one, Deadline reports that Glen Mazzara has been named as Frank Darabont's successor as showrunner of "The Walking Dead." In a recent Deadline interview, Darabont said, "We consider him our head writer and he’s just a fantastic asset." Honestly, I think the show is better off. Mazzara is a veteran of "The Shield," a great writer, and well versed in the vagaries of cable television production.

Premieres: October 12th, 2011

COMIC-CON RECOVERY DAY FOUR

Yes, my Comic-Con recovery is not complete. Maybe it has something to do with getting older, but sleep seems like a joke in the days following my yearly jaunt to San Diego. Before you know it, I'll be as cranky as Warren Ellis. Meanwhile, if any of you in the great, wide Internet discover something awesome, disheartening, or just plain weird, let us know! Take credit, come up with a clever nickname, or go anonymous. The choice is yours. Fresh rumors and movie news every weekday morning. I am Erik Amaya, bracing for the future threat of my "old bastard" years.
