R.I.P.D.

Variety reports that Kevin Bacon is in talks to play the villain in the film.

GHOST RIDER 2: SPIRITS OF VENGEANCE

A few days ago, scans surfaced on the Internet, but Empire has released high quality official stills from the film. Since I'm still giving the "Nic Cage head on fire" joke a little vacation, here's a shot of Idris Elba as the drunken priest Moreau:

Release date: February 17th, 2012

CONAN THE BARBARIAN

Stars Jason Momoa and Rachel Nichols spoke with Latino Review about the film. "My first experience with Conan was looking at those Frank Franzetta paintings, the one with him on the skulls," said the actor. "I read the comic books, and the Robert E. Howard – those are my own images in my head. And how I wanted to play it, how I wanted to play Conan." Nichols described her part as "a victim for a little while, until the two of us decide to join forces and then the change in the relationship is really nice because you see us being friends." Conan has friends?

Release date: August 19th, 2011

X-MEN: SECOND CLASS

Actress Rose Byrne, who played Moira MacTaggert in "First Class," tells IGN that she signed for three movies in total. "As of right now I have no idea if they're planning on doing another one," she says. "I loved working on it and loved working with the cast. I loved Matthew Vaughn. I also loved the style. The era and the fashion. And it was kind of kitsch-y and funny. It was a really fun and sophisticated superhero movie."

Release date: TBA

THE WALKING DEAD

Ending a pretty dramatic week for the show, AMC issued a press release on the staff changes. Of course, we have it here at CBR:

The Walking Dead's Glen Mazzara, writer and executive producer, is expanding his responsibilities to assume the role of showrunner. AMC is grateful to executive producer, writer and pilot director Frank Darabont whose contributions to the success of The Walking Dead are innumerable. We continue to discuss his ongoing role with the series.

Robert Kirkman, creator of The Walking Dead graphic novels, executive producer and writer on the series, will remain in this role and will continue to steward the brand. Gale Anne Hurd will remain in her role as Executive Producer. The production continues on schedule for an October 16th premiere.

I will remain in the role of reporting the behind the scenes developments, faithful Reelers.

Premieres: October 12th, 2011

WEEKEND TURNAROUND

While still in my Comic-Con recovery, I'm making a quick jaunt up North. Hopefully, it'll be a relaxing drive. On the way back, we're taking the long way down the 101 and making a day of it. I haven't done that in a long time. Meanwhile, if any of you in the great, wide Internet discover something awesome, disheartening, or just plain weird, let us know! Take credit, come up with a clever nickname, or go anonymous. The choice is yours. Fresh rumors and movie news every weekday morning. I am Erik Amaya, bracing for the future threat of

the week to come.
