THE DARK KNIGHT RISES

Reeler Holden watched Subaruwrxfan's feed over the weekend and spotted this video of a certain spoilery vehicle. Watch the following at your own peril:

And it would seem that the clip was taken shortly before the vehicle had a bit of a collision caught on this video:

Seriously, it's like the production team just doesn't care about secrecy anymore. Maybe they figured they couldn't win with all the cameras pointed at them.

Release date: July 20th, 2012

THE AVENGERS

Cleavland's Plain Dealer continues to watch the production closely and snapped this photo of the devastation to come:

Directed by Joss Whedon & starring everybody, release date: May 4th, 2012

R.I.P.D.

Actor Jeff Bridges spoke with The Los Angeles Times Hero Complex about the film. It helps to imagine that The Dude is saying the following quote: "It's going to be fun and strange. This movie is really out there. We're a couple of dead cops looking for dead people who are pretending to be alive."

Release date: June 28th, 2013

SUPERMAN/BATMAN

The lads at Think McFly Think hear an interesting rumor about a certain superhero team-up. "In a classic case of covering your ass, what we're hearing is two separate incarnations are being tooled. One version where the World's Greatest Detective is firmly established and helps mentor an up-and-coming, fresh-faced Supes and vice versa. Essentially, they're hoping they can woo Christian Bale back into the cape-and-cowl for a fourth time and in case the Oscar-winner tells them, 'No thanks, I'm done!', they'll go for a new actor altogether. Both versions would feature Henry Cavill's Last Son of Krypton." They point out the whole plan is rather tentative with all the juggling of various DC properties going on, but I suppose it would be useful to see these characters together before a full blown "Justice League" movie.

Release date: TBA

THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN

Actor Rhys Ifans (who will not be charged for his Comic-Con transgression) talked with the Hero Complex about his role in the film. "Curtis Connors is a great man who makes a bad decision," he says. "That's the whole magic of the Spider-Man idea. These people are the embodiment of our flaws and our desires that lead to tragedy." He also continues the fascination with Spidey's nether-parts: "Spider-Man more than any other hero is a metaphor for puberty. I feel bad for him. I'd never want to get my first [erection] in that costume."

Release date: May 28th, 2012

THE LONE RANGER

The film has been canceled? Deadline's Mike Fleming writes, "I've heard the filmmakers were trying to reduce the film's cost from $250 million (some even say $275 million) down to $232 million. But it wasn't the $200 million that Disney wanted to spend. And between [Johnny] Depp, [producer Jerry] Bruckheimer, and [Director Gore] Verbinski, the gross outlay on the film is substantial." In an update, he mentions Depp really wants to play Tonto and could muscle the film back into development. Thanks to Reeler Holden for the link.

Release date: December 21st, 2012

APE LAW

So I finally saw "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" and really enjoyed it. The ape characters are truly engaging despite their CGI-ness. Also, the film is peppered with links and nods to the original series, as this LA Times article mentions. I'm sort of stunned that they were able to make the film work, but it is one of the more pleasant surprises of the summer season. Meanwhile, if any of you in the great, wide Internet discover something awesome, disheartening, or just plain weird, let us know! Take credit, come up with a clever nickname, or go anonymous. The choice is yours. Fresh rumors and movie news every weekday morning. I am Erik Amaya, bracing for the future threat of the Lawgiver.
