Meanwhile, various Avengers appeared at D23 over the weekend with clips from the film. CBR's own Josie Campbell describes the sizzle reel, which features a confrontation between Nick Fury and an imprisoned Loki. "As Fury threatens Loki with imminent death should he try to escape, his hand hovering over the button that will drop the villain into thin air, Loki taunts Fury for being unable to handle the 'ultimate power' Loki and the Cosmic Cube represent," she writes. "'Well, tell me if the 'Ultimate Power' wants a magazine or something,' Fury snaps as he leaves Loki in the glass prison, prompting laughs from the audience."
Directed by Joss Whedon & starring everybody, release date: May 4th, 2012
THE LONE RANGER
One person not mentioned at D23 is presumed director Gore Verbinski. Disney's Rich Ross tells Deadline that "I think it''s a compelling story and no one wants to work with Jerry and Johnny more than me so we’ll see how it works." Hmm ... he could just be speaking of producer Jerry Bruckheimer and star Johnny Depp as the big players in the deal, but could it also indicate Verbiniski's out? Deadline certainly considers it a possibility.

"SHE WON'T LIVE ... BUT THEN AGAIN, WHO DOES?"
I'm sure you've heard by now that Ridley Scott has announced his intentions to make a "Blade Runner" sequel ... it kind of seems like Scott has reached a creative bankruptcy, doesn't it? A few years back, he announced that sci-fi, as a film genre, was dead and that he hadn't read a good sci-fi script in years. Flash-forward to now and he's picking at the bones of his past glories. "Robin Hood" was bad, but it doesn't mean you have to cannibalize yourself, Ridley. Also, stop your brother, Tony Scott, from remaking "The Wild Bunch." That path can only end in irrelevancy. Meanwhile, if any of you in the great, wide Internet discover something awesome, disheartening, or just plain weird, let us know! Take credit, come up with a clever nickname, or go anonymous. The choice is yours. Fresh rumors and movie news every weekday morning. I am Erik Amaya, bracing for the future threat of hate-mail from Ridley Scott fans.
