SUPERMAN: THE MAN OF STEEL

Superhero Hype has a few close-up photos of star Henry Cavil back in his Superman blues:

The lack of trunks still strikes me odd, but at least the other details make an effort to make the suit more alien. I guess it will be a gift from Jor-El and not a costume Martha Kent sows.

Directed by Zack Snyder, release date: June 14th 2013

THE AVENGERS

Comic Book Movie points to this You Tube video of the production's last filming day in Cleveland:

Directed by Joss Whedon & starring everybody, release date: May 4th, 2012

R.I.P.D.

According to Collider, a portion of the film has already been shot in Boston over the weekend. A reader tells them, "I was at Fenway Park this weekend watching the Red Sox pummel the A’s as hurricane Irene was pummeling Boston when I realized I was right in the middle of 'R. I. P. D.' shooting at the ball park. Marisa Miller and James Hong were doing a scene when she leads him though the isle I was sitting in." There's even some video:

Miller and Hong play the earthly manifestations of dead cops Jeff Bridges and Ryan Reynolds.

Release date: June 28th, 2013

THE DARK KNIGHT RISES

According to Wales Online (via Latino Review), a production unit appeared in Wales to shoot a possible Batcave entrance. "A team led by Batman director Christopher Nolan spent two days filming on National Trust land at Henrhyd Waterfall in the Neath Valley. The 90ft waterfall near the village of Coelbren is the highest in the park and a tourist favourite because of a path that takes intrepid walkers behind the waterfall," they report. One insider who spoke to the site tells them, "They were there for a couple of days just a few weeks ago ... I understand it's going to be used in the opening sequence of the film, as Batman discovers the Batcave."

Release date: July 20th, 2012

G.I. JOE 2: RETALIATION

Spoiler TV has a gallery of photos featuring Dwayne Johnson, Adrianne Palicki and D.J. Controna on the set of the "Joe" sequel. Here they are contemplating the crucial "Who wants a body massage?" scene:

Release date: June 29th, 2012

PROMETHEUS

Reeler David wrote in to tell me the set piece I identified as a power-loader is, in fact, landing gear. "The rest of the ship to be CGI'd in later (an earlier, somewhat foggy, pic shows a suited-up actress coming off of the ramp.)," he writes. Thanks for the correction. I think I just really want the film to end with a climatic battle between a Space Jockey and a massive mobile suit. In this wish, I am clearly still eight years old.

Directed by Ridley Scott, release date: 2012

GREEN LANTERN

Superhero Hype has details of the film's home video release. The various Blu-ray and DVD editions features Maximum Movie Mode, extended cuts, deleted scenes and featurettes examining the origins of the character.

Starring Ryan Reynolds, on DVD/Blu-ray: October 14th

"AND I WILL WHIPSER ... 'NO.'"

According to io9 and a few Star Wars related sites, George Lucas has made further changes to the original trilogy. The following clip is a dramatization of a reported alteration to the climax of "Return of the Jedi."

Various sites like Badass Digest are reporting that the change is real. As much as I'd like to see the deleted scenes added to the upcoming Blu-ray set, this is a change too far for me ... unless, of course, I can have the original versions of the films that matter in 1080p glory. Meanwhile, if any of you in the great, wide Internet discover something awesome, disheartening, or just plain weird, let us know! Take credit, come up with a clever nickname, or go anonymous. The choice is yours. Fresh rumors and movie news every weekday morning. I am Erik Amaya, bracing for the future threat of only acknowledging the BioWare version of "Star Wars."
