THE AVENGERS

Tom Hiddleston offers MTV News a little bit more on Loki and his souped-up costume. "It’s more gangster" the actor observes. "If in 'Thor' he was an Asgardian prince, in 'The Avengers' he's an Asgardian pirate. It's evolved. It takes into account between the end of 'Thor' and the beginning of 'Avengers,' [that] he's been around." Meanwhile, Clark Gregg debriefs Crave Online with some disinformation. "I'm taking down the Skrull armada single-handed!" he announced before taking it back with, "I'm just kidding. 'Skrull armada single-handed…' No, they're Kree!" Of course, he also followed that with another "just kidding," but who knows what truths may have been utter in that moment.

Directed by Joss Whedon & starring everybody, release date: May 4th, 2012

THE DARK KNIGHT RISES

The Hollywood Reporter spotted this YouTube video of the production dressing Los Angeles's trusty Third Street Tunnel for a scene:

Release date: July 20th, 2012

DREDD

Various sites, including Latino Review are quoting star Karl Urban about the possibility that Dredd will take off his mask. His words come from an interview in the print version of Total Film, in which he says, "I say this hypothetically. If I went to a movie called 'Judge Dredd' and the lead actor at one point took of his helmet so we could see his full face I would just puke in my popcorn because that's not Dredd. He is mysterious and enigmatic. We're doing it right, it's gonna be harder, grittier and above all faithful to the comic. It's gonna kick ass."

Release date: September 21st, 2012

THE ROCKETEER

According to Ain't It Cool News, the film will make its Blu-ray debut in December. I've been waiting for this since I bought a Blu-ray player.

Release date: December 13th, 2011

THE INCREDIBLE HULK

Over at the Comic Vine message board, user Red Hulk hears tell that his namesake will appear in the show. Quoting an email he received, he writes that "David Eick and Guillermo del Toro submitted a treatment that includes the development of the Red Hulk as a villain." Of course, we're playing a game of telephone with this one, so salt is required.

Airdate: TBA

THE WALKING DEAD

AMC spoke with new executive producer Glen Mazzara about his take on the second season. "Our approach to our group of survivors when they reach Hershel's farm is that they are a plague unto themselves. Nothing goes right for Hershel once Rick and his band show up," he explains. "They make the zombie apocalypse look like kids in a candy story. What's interesting is that if this was a show solely about Hershel, Rick and his band would really be the antagonists. And that's been really surprising because every action that Rick and his band take is completely logical, but you'll certainly sympathize with Hershel." He also offered the following: "I am dying to meet the Governor."

Premieres: October 12th, 2011

SLOW NEWS DAY

With the town still waking up from Labor Day, the Reel winds a little slow this morning. I'm sure that won't last with "The Avengers" and "The Dark Knight Rises" still shooting. Meanwhile, if any of you in the great, wide Internet discover something awesome, disheartening, or just plain weird, let us know! Take credit, come up with a clever nickname, or go anonymous. The choice is yours. Fresh rumors and movie news every weekday morning. I am Erik Amaya, bracing for the future threat of the Joseph Gordon-Levitt/Robin rumor surfacing again.
