THE AVENGERS

Chris Evans tells MTV News about Stan Lee's "Avengers" cameo:

Directed by Joss Whedon & starring everybody, release date: May 4th, 2012

SUPERMAN: THE MAN OF STEEL

The Canadian Press (via Superhero Hype) hears word that next leg of Superman's next film journey will take him to Vancouver, Canada. "According to a letter received by municipal council in Ucluelet, on the west coast of Vancouver Island, filming will take place there and in the Vancouver area, too," they report. The letter also mentions that sets have been under construction at various soundstages in the area since the spring. Y'know, just once, I'd love to see Vancouver play itself in a movie ... kind of like how Toronto got to play itself in early David Cronenberg movies.

Directed by Zack Snyder, release date: June 14th 2013

THE DARK KNIGHT RISES

Superhero Hype has a round-up of cast-members unwilling to offer details about the film. This includes Joseph Gordon-Levitt, who says, "I can tell you that one of the things I admire most about Mr. Nolan is that he understands that the story begins before the movie does." I wonder if Nolan took a day to teach his actors how talk to the press without really saying very much at all.

Release date: July 20th, 2012

MARVEL ONE-SHOT

Actor Clark Gregg discusses Agent Coulson with ABC News (via Comic Book Movie):

Release date: TBA

THE WALKING DEAD

Spinoff Online reports that make-up effects guru Greg Nicotero has been upgraded to co-executive producer on the show's second season. Nicotero also spearheaded the show's new webisodes and will direct an upcoming episode of the TV series.

Premieres: October 12th, 2011

WEEKEND LAYABOUT

Get me a gin-and-tonic and cue up a Reb Brow classic -- it's the weekend! While we're playing fast and loose with our weekend plans, I do know we're watching the Nicolas Cage film "Snake Eyes" tonight. Not sure if I should be happy or sad about that. Meanwhile, if any of you in the great, wide Internet discover something awesome, disheartening, or just plain weird, let us know! Take credit, come up with a clever nickname, or go anonymous. The choice is yours. Fresh rumors and movie news every weekday morning. I am Erik Amaya, bracing for the future threat of the week ahead.
