Optimus Prime and Grimlock gear up for "Transformers: Fall of Cybertron" next summer

You just can't keep a good Transformer down. Video game publication Game Informer unveiled its November cover, officially confirming the existence of a new "Transformers" game published by Activision.

In "Transformers: Fall of Cybertron," players once again take control of either the heroic Autobots or villainous Decepticons as they battle across their home planet, Cybertron, which sounds like its best days may be behind it. Though not much story is known at this time (the magazine hits shelves later this month and contains full details), we do know that High Moon Studios, the developer of previous "Transformers" games, is also back for this new effort. Based on the magazine's cover, it's fair to assume the game will include Grimlock, the fan-favorite Dinobot, in his playable debut. If he'll have the ability to chomp his enemies, only time will tell.

The "Transformers" video game franchise has seen a rise in popularity since the release of "War For Cybertron" last year. With its original storyline and thunderous third-person action, the game became an instant hit with both gamers and critics. The developer used the same formula for the movie tie-in "Transformers: Dark of the Moon," which hit stores around the same time as the Michael Bay film earlier this year. Both games enable you to transform between robot and vehicle at any time, with full access to weapons in both forms. Expect this sequel to deliver the same goods -- and perhaps even more.

"Transformers: Fall of Cybertron" is currently scheduled for a summer 2012 release. CBR News will have more news on the game as it becomes available.
