SIN CITY 2

Screenwriter William Monahan describes his job on "Sin City 2" to Collider. "In this case, my job is essentially to be Frank Miller. I have to, as an improvisational actor, be Frank Miller while simultaneously being Monahan. It's pretty cool because as a screenwriter, as a dramatist, what you're doing all the time is inhabiting characters and improvising," he explains. "In writing drama, there's a great component of being an improvisational actor and there's also a component of being an improvisational writer who can inhabit another personality and deliver something in the correct tone. Frank Miller is emphatically Frank Miller. That's what I wanted to see in 'Sin City' and that’s what I want to see in 'Sin City 2.'"

Release date: TBA

THOR 2

As we reported here at CBR yesterday, director Patty Jenkins has been confirmed as director of the next "Thor" film, which also shifted its release date from summer to November, making it Marvel's first foray into the holiday season. The story will reportedly see Thor traveling to other realms and presumably reuniting with Jane Foster, as played by Natalie Portman.

Starring Chris Hemsworth, release date: Novemeber 13th, 2013

SUPERMAN: THE MAN OF STEEL

Crave Online spotted this photo from the set that reveals just how hard Henry Cavill worked to get the Superman physique down:

Now that is dedication.

Directed by Zack Snyder, release date: June 14th 2013

THE LONE RANGER

So, at post-time yesterday, it was unclear if the film would rush to meet its original 2012 date or shift in the schedule. I can now confirm (thanks to The Hollywood Reporter) that it will now be a summer release, debuting on May 31st, 2013.

Release date: May 31st, 2013

NEW-GEN

Deadline reports that Mark Hamill will serve as a creative consultant on the

multimedia plans deriving from the comic book series. "The long-term plan is to build the characters and storylines into platforms that will include TV, mobile and video games," the site reports. A film is already in the works with co-creator J.D. Matonti attached to direct. "I'm honored to join the franchise and upcoming feature film as creative consultant and aim to evolve this compelling universe for fans to enjoy with the APNG Enterprises team," says Hamill.

Release date: TBA

GREEN LANTERN

If you're on the fence about buying the home video release of the film, here's something that might tip your hand: a special feature with Geoff Johns and other creative types talking about the history of the comic book. Here's a clip (via Bleeding Cool) of Johns discussing "Green Lantern: Rebirth."

Having seen the full featurette, I can easily say it's the best thing on the disc.

Starring Ryan Reynolds, on DVD/Blu-ray: Out now in the US!

THE WALKING DEAD

AMC's official Walking Dead site has an interactive trailer for the game that allows you to play Shane as he deals with the emerging zombie apocalypse. It should be fun.

Premieres: October 16th, 2011

WORKING WEEKEND

Get me a stiff drink and watch me run -- it's a working weekend in New York! I'll be covering NYCC, but things shouldn't be two crazy ... of course, that's what I thought last night and ended up waiting two hours for a bowl of ramen. As always, if any of you in the great, wide Internet discover something awesome, disheartening, or just plain weird, let us know! Take credit, come up with a clever nickname, or go anonymous. The choice is yours. Fresh rumors and movie news every weekday morning. I am Erik Amaya, bracing for the future threat of the next New York City time dilation.
