DC Comics revealed this morning through its blog, The Source, Jim Lee's redesign of Darkseid, the main villain of Lee and Geoff Johns' New 52 flagship title, "Justice League."

Created by Jack Kirby as the main antagonist of the his Fourth World Saga, Darkseid went on to become the biggest bad guy of the DC Universe, appearing in numerous series and serving as a major nemesis of the Justice League under the pen of Grant Morrison. The New God ruler of the planet Apokalips, Darkseid last saw prominence in Morrison's "Final Crisis," during which he not only conquered Earth for a time, but also seemingly killed Batman.

The Lee redesign, taking some visual cues from the character's "Final Crisis" and "Rock of Ages" look, marks Darkseid's first appearance in comics since his defeat in "Final Crisis," where he was sent tumbling through the Multiverse.
