THE DARK KNIGHT RISES

Comic Book Movie rounded up some rumors provided by Superhero Hype message board poster Ragnarok8. They're fairly specific and filled with spoilers, but here's a lightweight item if you choose not to click through: "I was told by my guy that they're going to start the promotional campaign getting people used to both Batman and Bane. He was saying that it seemed they want to do a two fold marketing strategy: The first ChrisB mentioned first with Batman and the Batcave trying to reintroduce us into a more traditional looking setting for Batman. Reacquainting us to Batman and then having some definite looks at Bane." As always, message board posts are dubious, but they are occasionally on the right track.

Release date: July 20th, 2012

THE AVENGERS

Marvel confirms last week's report that Alan Silvestri is scoring the film. "I've worked on films where there have been a number of stars and certainly worked on films where there have been characters of equal weight in terms of their level of importance and profile in the film, but this one is somewhat extreme in that regard because each of these characters has their own world and it's a very different situation," says the composer in a statement. "It’s very challenging to look for a way to give everyone the weight and consideration they need, but at the same time the film is really about the coming together of these characters, which implies that there is this entity called the Avengers which really has to be representative of all of them together."

Directed by Joss Whedon & starring everybody, release date: May 4th, 2012

AKIRA

Ezra Miller tells Moviefone that his appearance on the shortlist for Tetsuo is not true and that he will not pursue the part. "That, I can assure you, will not be a reality." Wow. While it sounds like Miller may have personal reasons to avoid the production, he adds the following diplomatic statement: "It's a beautiful Japanese epic and I think it'll be a very entertaining, fun film, but no, it's not my next move."

FABLES

David Yates confirms for MTV News that he won't be making a film based on the Legends in Exile:

AKA JESSICA JONES

Melissa Rosenberg tells Hitfix that she had a certain freedom to reference Marvel properties in her pilot script for the series as it takes place in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. "As we go along things will alter in terms of what is made available to us, but we're definitely in that universe. We are in no way denying that that universe exists. And as much as I can I'm going to pull everything in from there that I can use." According to the writer, Tony Stark and Stark Industries are mentioned and Carol Danvers (Ms. Marvel) has a larger role in the pilot alongside Jessica and Luke Cage.

NO TRIBBLE AT ALL

According to Think McFly Think, a band of Klingons will be the antagonists in the "Star Trek" sequel. "The angle, according to our sources, plays up them up as a Nomadic sect of warrior aliens causing trouble for the Federation - think an intergalactic Taliban with their home-planet overrun by Tribbles. Yes, those Tribbles, here in the newly rebooted continuity viewed as "furry carnivorous creatures,'" they report. Carnivorous. Tribbles. If this rumor is even remotely true, I wonder how long that detail will remain in the script. Meanwhile, if any of you in the great, wide Internet discover something awesome, disheartening, or just plain weird, let us know! Take credit, come up with a clever nickname, or go anonymous. The choice is yours. Fresh rumors and movie news every weekday morning. I am Erik Amaya, bracing for the future threat of Tribble creator David Gerrold's reaction.
