SUPERMAN: THE MAN OF STEEL

Michael Shannon chats with The Province (via the Man of Steel Facebook Page) about his career. Though he's quite mum about his role in the film, he does mention that he's been spared a lot of the wirework Terence Stamp -- Shannon's predecessor as General Zod -- had to face. "Unfortunately for Mr. Stamp, they didn't have CGI back then ... From time to time I'm in a harness, but I don't think anywhere near as much as he was. It's no secret that a lot of the film is going to be assisted by computer designed animation." Computer animation on a Zach Snyder picture? Perish the thought.

Directed by Zack Snyder, release date: June 14th 2013

THE AVENGERS

Tom Hiddleston, the chattiest of Marvel actors -- tells UK Elle (via Superhero Hype) about his favorite day on "The Avengers" set. "My favorite moment on set was filming at a NASA location the size of a cathedral. I flew around like a trapeze artist in a rocket-testing facility in the company of Samuel L. Jackson and Jeremy Renner. That was a pretty good day at work," says the actor.

Directed by Joss Whedon & starring everybody, release date: May 4th, 2012

TINTIN 2

Producer Kathleen Kennedy offers Collider an update on the sequel to the first "Tintin" adventure. "Steven [Spielberg] and I were talking about it this morning. We're working on a script right now, we'll see a script probably February or March," she says. "If we can do some camera capture this summer, which I think we could do, then we would be on track to have the movie either Christmas 2014 or summer 2015, and so that’s what we're looking at right now."

Release date: TBA

DREDD

The lads at Comic Book Movie spotted this audition reel from DeObia Oparei, who performs several scenes from the script. I consider it to be a giant spoiler, so proceed with caution.

Release date: September 21st, 2012

THE DARK KNIGHT RISES

Composer Hans Zimmer tells Collider about the crowd-sourced chant he created for the film. "The chant became a very complicated thing because I wanted hundreds of thousands of voices, and it's not so easy to get hundreds of thousands of voices," he explains. "So, we Twittered and we posted on the internet, for people who wanted to be part of it. It seemed like an interesting thing. We've created this world, over these last two movies, and somehow I think the audience and the fans have been part of this world. We do keep them in mind. And I thought it would be something nice, if our audiences could actually be part of the making of the movie and be participants in this." Using the vast resources of the fanbase gave Zimmer an new and unusual sound to work with. "You always want to create a sound that nobody has ever heard, but I think, this time, we might be doing that. As a musician, I think about what environment things are recorded in. Now, you have hundreds of thousands of voices, all recorded in their own individual environment. Up until now, that's been impossible to do."

Release date: July 20th, 2012

THE LOST SIDE OF MARS

Director Andrew Stanton tells Bleeding Cool why his live-action debut lost the words "of Mars" from its title. After changing the name from "A Princess of Mars" for fear of losing the boys, "of Mars" was lost when he accepted the following truth: "No girl would go to see 'John Carter Of Mars.' So I said, 'I don't won’t to do anything out of fear, I hate doing things out of fear, but I can’t ignore that truth.'" The film business is an often wily place filled with obscure marketing decisions like this one. Meanwhile, if any of you in the great, wide Internet discover something awesome, disheartening, or just plain weird, let us know! Take credit, come up with a clever nickname, or go anonymous. The choice is yours. Fresh rumors and movie news every weekday morning. I am Erik Amaya, bracing for the future threat of "The Hob" and "Linc."
