THE DARK KNIGHT RISES
CBR's Executive Producer Jonah Weiland attended a screening of the prologue last night and offered a few comments afterward. "The sequence begins with Commissioner Jim Gordon speaking at the funeral of Harvey Dent, then quickly switches to an elaborate heist sequence that introduces audiences to Bane," he writes. "As it's a film directed by Nolan, you might expect this isn't your typical heist, and indeed it's not – it takes place at 30,000 feet in a spectacular scene reflecting the increasingly dangerous world in which Batman lives." He notes it was hard to understand some of Bane's dialogue, but was assured the sound mix was far from final. "Overall," he continues, "the sequence establishes that Nolan and his team aim to continue the wild ride they began with 'Batman Begins.' Where 'The Dark Knight' was a step up from the already excellent 'Batman Begins,' it appears 'The Dark Knight Rises' takes the tension, action and story to another level. If 'The Dark Knight' reinvented the superhero film, could 'The Dark Knight Rises' do it again? Don't bet against Nolan."
Meanwhile, at the end of this Collider clip, Gary Oldman discusses filming with the IMAX camera:
Release date: July 20th, 2012
"I have had a great time working at Marvel," says former sequel director Patty Jenkins to The Hollywood Reporter in an exclusive statement. "We parted on very good terms, and I look forward to working with them again." Huh. In all the reports of her departure, there was this "hopeful note" that she would eventually do a superhero film with the team at Marvel. Is it possible they found another character -- or group of characters -- that better suits her talents?
Starring Chris Hemsworth, release date: November 13th, 2013
SECRET STAN LEE PROJECT
As Spinoff Online reported, Lionsgate has picked up another Stan Lee property for former 'Smallville' producers Alfred Gough and Miles Millar to develop. While firm details are unknown, it is said the project will sweep across decades. Could this be the "Striperella" movie?
Release date: TBA
The lads at Comic Book Movie picked up on a curious statement from Zeenews at india.com: "American superhero film 'Avengers' will release in India April 27 next year, a week before its release in the US." While unconfirmed, various sites are reporting it and mirrors the early foreign release of "Thor" last year.
Directed by Joss Whedon & starring everybody, release date: May 4th, 2012
THE LONE RANGER
Spinoff Online spotted a synopsis for the film:
Left for dead in an ambush with five other Texas Rangers, lawman John Reid (Armie Hammer) survives and is nursed back to health by an Indian scout named Tonto (Johnny Depp). He then dons a mask to avenge the murders of his comrades and to foil evil doers, never accepting payment for his services. His gratis vigilantism is made possible by the silver mine he inherits from one of his slain brothers – the same mine that affords him an endless supply of his trademark silver bullets.
Sounds like a "grim n gritty" take on the Ranger. I wonder if Frank Miller wrote a draft of the script.
Release date: May 31st, 2013
