A sexually transmitted disease that grants you superpowers, makes you famous and then kills you all in a six-month period. No, it's not the latest high concept from the mind of writer Mark Millar, but it's pretty close.

That premise drives "Death Sentence" – a new comic serial by writer Montynero and "Rex Royd" artist Mike Dowling hitting the pages of Millar's "CLiNT" magazine this May. The comic is one of the first new strips for the publication since "CLiNT" has announced simultaneous U.K. and U.S. release dates and will join well known series such as Millar's "Kick-Ass 2," "TURF" and "Who Is Jake Ellis?"

"CLiNT" publisher Titan Magazines has shared an exclusive first look at "Death Sentence" with CBR along with more info on its discovery and signing, which you can read in the press release below.

“THE BEST IDEA I’VE SEEN FOR A COMIC IN YEARS. GENUINELY ORIGINAL.” – MARK MILLAR

MARK MILLAR ACQUIRES ‘DEATH SENTENCE’

TO RUN IN CLiNT MAGAZINE IN 2012!

Mark Millar’s CLiNT is proud to announce it has acquired the independent comic Death Sentence to run in the magazine.

Created by writer Montynero and Mike Dowling (artist on the mindbending CLiNT-exclusive Rex Royd), Death Sentence is the perfect fit for CLiNT’s brand of big-budget action with a cynical twist.

Described as “just brilliant” by Millar, Death Sentence first came to our attention at the first Kapow! Comic Convention, where it stood out from the crowd of pitches with its striking concept and A-list work from the creators.

The story of three Londoners granted superpowers and six months to live by the devastating, sexually-transmitted G-Plus virus, Death Sentence is by turns dramatic, thought-provoking and hilarious; a take-down of modern celebrity culture that also takes a stand against oppressive and invasive government.

Editorial manager Andrew James enthuses, “Death Sentence has it all – a great high-concept, engaging characters, fantastic art, and gripping writing. Montynero has a spectacular career ahead of him – and Mike Dowling’s self-coloured work is a revelation.”

Death Sentence will debut in CLiNT on May 10, 2012, with a launch at the second annual Kapow! Comic Convention.

Plus, keep your eyes peeled: we’ll have more exciting news on the future of CLiNT in January!

Every issue of CLiNT is 100 pages, packed with strips by the biggest and freshest names in the industry.
