THQ unveiled a new teaser ad for its upcoming "Darksiders II" During the 2011 Spike TV Video Game Awards, a sequel to the popular 2010 title, and while the commercial doesn't feature any new gameplay footage, it shines the spotlight firmly on the wrath of Death, "the most feared of the legendary Four Horsemen" and a new, central character for the series.

The trailer, which runs just over a minute, also lays out a bit of the game's back story, with War facing punishment for supposedly starting the Apocalypse, as explained in the first game. Death, a fellow Horseman of the Apocalypse, sets out to redeem his brother by finding the truth behind the world's end -- a task that proves easier said than done.

Like the original "Darksiders," this game is being developed by Vigil Games, the studio headed up by comic book artist Joe "Mad" Madureira who, besides working on video games, is experiencing something of a comics resurgence right now with his and writer Zeb Wells' "Avenging Spider-Man" currently one of the industry's top selling series. Considering how well the first "Darksiders" was received by fans, we can't wait to see what's coming next!

"Darksiders II" is scheduled to be available for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC in Summer 2012. It is also anticipated to be a launch title for Wii U.
