One day ahead of its big "Transformers" relaunch, IDW Publishing has released two promotional images featuring Hasbro's heroic Autobots and evil Decepticons. The first is a teaser for "Transformers: Autocracy," a born-digital series written by video game writers Flint Dille (who also wrote for the original "Transformers" and "G.I. Joe" cartoons) and Chris Metzen (SVP of Creative Development at Blizzard Entertainment) with art by Livio Ramondelli. Further details will be revealed January 18, but when the project was announced at BotCon in June 2011 the series was expected to be presented in eight-page installments. In a recent thread on IDW's forums, Ramondelli confirmed the series takes place early in the war between Cybertronian factions.
The other image, exclusive to CBR, marks the launch of "Transformers: More than Meets the Eye," one of two new ongoing series replacing the previous "Transformers" ongoing, which concluded in December with the "Death of Optimus Prime" one-shot. Written by popular "Last Stand of the Wreckers" scribe James Roberts with art by Alex Milne and Nick Roche, the series follows Rodimus Prime and his followers into space on a quest for the Knights of Cybertron in the hopes that locating these mythical figures will usher in a new golden age on the Transformers' home world. The teaser image, however, declares, "Ratchet knows his time is up."
Stay tuned to CBR for more news on IDW's "Transformers" lineup -- which, as of Free Comic Book Day, will also include Simon Furman's classic Marvel continuity -- and details on "Autocracy" next week!
