THE AVENGERS

Newsarama spoke with Marvel Studios Creative Manager of Research and Development Will Corona Pilgrim on the status of Agent Coulson, who was originally intended as a one-time performance in "Iron Man" and has since gone on to appear in the entire Marvel Movieverse.

"Coulson has always been the official/unofficial face of Marvel Cinematic Universe’s S.H.I.E.L.D.," Pilgrim told Newsarama. "As fans know, S.H.I.E.L.D. has been a major character in the films as they clandestinely monitor the workings of various super powers; and while Nick Fury is the one in charge, Coulson is definitely the one in the trenches."

Agent Coulson will also be appearing in Marvel's "Ultimate Spider-Man" animated series voiced by Clark Gregg.

Marvel's big "Avengers" Twitter event begins today at 2:00 PM Eastern/11:00 AM Pacific and there's going to be one more person participating. The live event originally included director Joss Whedon and cast members Clark Gregg and Tom Hiddleston. Yesterday, Nick Fury himself, Samuel L. Jackson, mentioned he would also be joining in -- saying in the Tweet "Disney Muthafukkas already trying to CENSOR my ass." Be sure to follow the live event at the official @Avengers Twitter later today.

Directed by Joss Whedon and starring everybody. Opens May 4.

CHRONICLE

Lots of promotional material for Josh Trank's "Chronicle" hit the web yesterday, including this new trailer, courtesy of IGN about a superpowered robbery:

Trank also spoke with Collider about the film and spoke to the rumors of his possible selection to direct a new "Fantastic Four" film.

Finally, in what might be one of the coolest viral promotions ever, here's a video from the ChronicleNYC YouTube account where three people constructed remote-controlled flying people to soar over the skies of New York City.

Opens February 3

DARK KNIGHT RISES

Blog.livedoor.jp has posted scans of Christian Bale's recent interview with Style Magazine where he speaks to the character of Batman and his "The Dark Knight" co-star Heath Ledger.

"I like people who have obsessions, passions, people who do not always want to be in the limelight," Bale told Style. "Heath really was a lovely person, he loved his daughter dearly and he spent his life seeking answers. He was nothing to do with the commotion that broke out after his death. Nobody ever really is a cartoon super-hero, even although [sic] superheroes are all the rage today."

Kate Mara spoke with ESPN and revealed she was once under consideration for the role of Catwoman.

"Christopher Nolan is one of my favorite directors and just to get the opportunity to test for such an iconic role as Catwoman was a honor," Mara told ESPN. "I couldn't talk about it for a while because the movie was so top-secret but I am excited to see how it all turns out."

Opens July 20

THE WALKING DEAD

Spoiler TV has posted two new TV spots for the midseason premiere of "The Walking Dead," "Nebraska."

X-MEN: FIRST CLASS 2

In a veritable "First Class" reunion, Director Matthew Vaughn is confirmed to direct the sequel. In a Deadline report on Fox President of Production Emma Watts renewing her contract, the website revealed Fox has just closed a deal to bring Vaughn back to direct the "First Class" sequel, with Simon Kinberg writing the script and Bryan Singer as producer.

TRON 3

According to Perez Hilton, "Tron" star Bruce Boxleitner has confirmed a "Tron 3" release for 2013 at last week's D23 event.

"Oh, it’s already a done deal," Boxleitner said. "It’s already in the works, my friend."

The actor further confirmed he would be returning as "Alan Bradley and/or Tron" in the sequel.

DREDD

GAME OF THRONES

MTV spoke with "Game of Thrones" star Emilia Clarke, who said viewers could expect to see more dragons in the upcoming season.

"You're going to see a fair amount of them I think," Clarke told MTV. "They're my three little new cast members."

Clarke also mentioned details on the development of her character, Daenerys Targaryen in the upcoming season.

"She goes through another different stage I think, kind of coming to the realization of what she's up against and that she's definitely in a man's world," she said. "So it's interesting."
