Official Press Release

Comic-Con International (CCI), the nonprofit educational organization dedicated to creating awareness of comics and popular art, today announced that the 2012 edition of Comic-Con Annual is slated to arrive in mailboxes and specialty stores this week. Additionally, the magazine will be made available online at the Comic-Con website, www.comic-con.org.

This all-new publication is a veritable 80-page giant, featuring an exclusive new cover photo of Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield from the upcoming movie The Amazing Spider-Man. Interviews with Stone and director Marc Webb are part of the Annual’s “Year of the Spider” coverage.

Comic-Con Annual also provides valuable, up-to-date information on the ever-popular WonderCon being held, for the first time, in Anaheim on March 16–18, 2012. WonderCon attracted nearly 50,000 people in San Francisco in 2011 and has become a must-attend event on the convention circuit. Current information on APE, the Alternative Press Expo also appears on the pages of the Annual. APE has become one of the largest independent and alternative comics conventions in the country, attracting 5,500 attendees in 2011. It will be held in San Francisco October 13–14, 2012.

The Annual’s other features include articles on Spider-Man's 50th anniversary in comics, focusing on Stan Lee, Steve Ditko (by Blake Bell), and John Romita Sr. and John Romita Jr. (by Tom Spurgeon). Additional articles celebrate the 75th anniversary of Hal Foster’s Prince Valiant (by Foster biographer Brian M. Kane) and the 30th anniversary of Love & Rockets (by Charles Brownstein). Plus a Comic-Con 2011 photo album and much more!
