THE AVENGERS

Easily the biggest news in the last 24 hours is the premiere of a new "Avengers" trailer. Full of explosions and alien invaders, it's got all the makings of a summer movie classic.

Directed by Joss Whedon and starring everyone. Opens May 4

MAN OF STEEL

NukeTheFridge has posted a new set picture from Zack Snyder's "Man of Steel" featuring Henry Cavill as Superman and Amy Adams as Lois Lane.

Opens June 14, 2013

STAR TREK 2

Benedict Cumberbatch spoke with MTV about his experience on the set of "Star Trek 2."

"My part of the film is really sorta kicking in now," Cumberbatch told MTV. "It's great fun, great, great fun," he said. "But what I'm trying to say is it's a great thing to come into something that everybody's familiar with and knows each other very well. So it's [in] a weird way a very easy thing to get up to speed with, because everybody is so welcoming and gets along with one another."

Opens May 17

THE HUNGER GAMES

Latino Review has posted a one-minute TV spot for the upcoming film featuring music by Taylor Swift.

Opens March 23

THE WALKING DEAD

Spanish blog CarLost has posted new photos and a clip for this Sunday's episode "Judge, Jury, Executioner."

Airs Sundays on AMC

JOHN CARTER

Director Andrew Stanton spoke with the LA Times' HeroComplex, mentioning his gateway into the world of John Carter as a child.

"My gateway drug was the Marvel comics of John Carter," Stanton told HeroComplex. "My friends were drawing these four-armed creatures with tusks, and I said, 'What are those?' And they said, 'Those are Tharks. This is Tars Tarkas,' and then they threw the comic book at me. … By the time I was in high school finishing [the books], my girlfriends would call them my romance novels."

Opens March 9

DAVY JONES: 1945-2012

Davy Jones of The Monkees passed away yesterday. As tribute, here's my favorite song from the band. It's an obvious choice, but a classic.
