Top Cow hopes to continue Jackie Estacado's story in future video game installments of "The Darkness."

Although "The Darkness II" has had less than a month on shelves, fans are already talking about the cliffhanger ending at the end of the video game by developer 2K Games. While speaking with IGN, Top Cow CEO and fan-favorite artist Marc Silvestri noted the ending and expressed a desire to continue the franchise should 2K Games decide to pursue another Jackie Estacado adventure.

"Pretty clever little ending, I thought," Silvestri told IGN. "We at Top Cow are, of course, hoping to continue the video game adventures of Jackie Estacado and his, um friend. If we get that call from 2K it'll be a great day for us...so fingers are crossed."

The artist went on to further tease the possibility of further expanding Top Cow into video games, saying, "As for more games pulled from the TC universe well... that would be spoiling the surprise, wouldn't it."

While speaking to CBR in 2011 about "The Darkness II," Silvestri hinted at plans for cross-media platforms in the Top Cow universe. "With this, I think as we go forward in entertainment, the audience obviously gets more sophisticated and they demand more variety in the way they get their entertainment, the delivery systems," Silvestri said. "I think we'll be able to blend more and more real-time fun with the games, tweeting and whatever's going to be coming up in the next few years. I think with social media, there's going to be the ability for us to tell these stories that all intertwine. The video game is 'The Darkness.' It's Jackie. In the same way that the Batman movie is Batman. We're not limiting ourselves to anything. We're anticipating having a lot of fun with the fans, and I think they're going to have a lot of fun with us."

Based on the long-running Top Cow comic, "The Darkness II" is a sequel to 2007's "The Darkness" and features a host of new features including the quad-wielding system, which allows players to use both Jackie's hands and two of his demon limbs to eviscerate enemies and exact his revenge. The game hit stores February 7 for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
