Following DC Comics' first look at Gary Frank's "Shazam" makeover, the publisher (via its blog The Source) has released the artist's variant cover for "Action Comics" #8 written by Grant Morrison with art by Rags Morales. The issue heralds the conclusion of Morrison's first "Action Comics" arc following the premiere of the New 52. No stranger to Superman, Frank collaborated with Geoff Johns on his run of "Action Comics," "Superman: Secret Origin" and "Superman: New Krypton."

In addition to "Shazam" and the "Action Comics" #8 variant, Frank contributed a "Justice League" #7 variant cover and illustrated the upcoming "Justice League" backup story introducing Billy Batson and Shazam to the New 52. The artist will reunite with Johns in July to take on Batman in DC's "Batman: Earth One" original graphic novel.

"Action Comics" #8 hits stores April 4.
