THE AVENGERS

In an extensive interview with The Manila Bulletin Publishing Corporation, director Joss Whedon spoke to the talents of the individual actors in the film, his conversations with "Iron Man" director Jon Favreau and "Thor" director Kenneth Branagh and his directorial approach to the visual style of Earth's Mightiest Movie.

"As much as anything, my visual style as a director comes from comic books," Whedon told Manila Bulletin. "My understanding of visual storytelling comes from panel art, which I was reading more voraciously than I was watching movies for most of my childhood. In that sense, I had sort of a head start when I started visualizing this film. I hired Seamus McGarvey to be my Director of Photography because of 'Atonement.' It’s a gorgeous film. Seamus' understanding of light as romantic and naturalistic is dazzling. Visually, the movie is similar to a lot of things that I do because it's supposed to be casually iconic. In other words, I want to hit iconic moments without hitting people over the head with them. I want it to feel like a comic book without trying to look like one. I'm trying to ride that line between bigger-than-life characters and their bigger-than-life moments and the very human aspects of them."

Directed by Joss Whedon and starring everybody. Opens May 4

AMAZING SPIDER-MAN

According to The Press Association, "Amazing Spider-Man" star Andrew Garfield described stepping into the role of Peter Parker as "serving something greater than me."

"All the way through filming the Spider-Man movie, I felt like I was serving something greater than me," Garfield told the Press Association. I wouldn't have done it if I didn't. That character has been an important character to me since I was a kid. And all my concern was to make sure that Peter Parker and the symbol of Spider-Man were treated with the reverence that I have for them."

While speaking to Digital Spy about "John Carter," previous Green Goblin Willem Dafoe expressed his opinion on the upcoming "Spider-Man" reboot.

"It's funny, I really enjoyed working on Spider-Man but when I was finished with it, it really completed something for me. … I don't have an opinion on it one way or the other, to tell you the truth."

THE LONE RANGER

Disney has posted the first photo of Johnny Depp as Tonto and Armie Hammer as the Lone Ranger.

MTV spoke with Hammer, who expounded on how well Depp plays Tonto.

"He is a fantastic Tonto," Hammer told MTV. "And we have gotten to spend time together and work on the stuff, which is great. And we're about to spend the next seven months together working on this stuff, so it's exciting."

"It's very much like a buddy comedy," Hammer said of the film. "It's sort of like these two guys agreeing, and disagreeing, and getting along and then not getting along. There's all kind of stuff rolled into it. It's like an action adventure [film], it takes place on the frontier so it's not expressly like a Western with the twirling guns and stuff like that, but it's going to be fun."

CLOVERFIELD 2

In an interview with Bloody Disgusting, "Cloverfield" writer Drew Goddard spoke to the possibility of a sequel to the film.

"I hope so. I mean, I’d like it to [do it]," Goddard told Bloody Disgusting. "Cloverfield was very much a dialogue between J.J. Abrams, Matt Reeves and me. And you need those three parts. It’s just been hard because we’ve been busy. None of us wants to make a movie just for the sake of making a sequel. That’s just not interesting to us. I think we all have ideas of what we want to do, and they're probably all different. But we need to sit down and get it together. I blame Star Trek."

THE WALKING DEAD

CarLost has posted a new clip of this weekend's episode of "The Walking Dead," "Better Angels" featuring a moment between Rick and Carl.
