THE AVENGERS

Want a new 30-second spot for "The Avengers?" The Marvel Brasil Facebook Page has you covered with a new TV-spot crammed full of new footage of Earth's Mightiest Movie.

According to Variety, there's a $100 million reason the Avengers are partnering with companies from Norton Antivirus to Red Baron pizza and Dr. Pepper. Marvel and Disney have secured an estimated $100 million in marketing support for Earth's Mightiest Movie. Although some campaigns have already launched, most will hit April 1 with a select few continuing all the way to September for the DVD/Blu-ray release. There will also be a good amount of product placement within "The Avengers" itself, including Tony Stark donning a Colantotte magnetic polarity bracelet.

"This is an ensemble cast," Marvel executive vice president of worldwide marketing partnerships Bob Sabouni told Variety. "This is about the Avengers and how there's a threat so big that not one single hero can defend the Earth on their own. Every Avenger has their own piece of the program and it was fun to see how our partners took that to heart."

Comic Book Movie has posted an interview with Scarlet Johansson found in this month's issue of Empire Magazine where the actress speaks to the motivation behind Black Widow and how her character differs from the stereotypical damsel-in-distress.

"I knew that I didn't want to play a love interest," Johansson told Empire. "That's not who Widow is. I think Joss understood the importance of having a female perspective. He's a very sensitive guy. He works really well with women. He obviously can write for them! He loves strong and independent women and he's got a certain understanding of, and an appreciation for, women who take charge of the situation, of themselves -- so it was clear to me that the character would not be underwritten. … I don't think Widow thinks about proving herself. She's incredibly confident. She has no interest in being on anybody's good side. She's not looking to be top of the class. I don't think there's any ego involved there. She leaves that ego stuff for the big man in the iron suit, I guess. I think she's just incredibly practical."

Meanwhile, stuntman Troy Brenna, who provided motion capture for the Hulk, spoke to Italian comics fansite Comicus about his experience in helping to bring the gamma giant to life.

"Mark Ruffalo and I spoke briefly on how the Hulk was supposed to move, but mostly I followed his movements and tried to make them his," Brenna told Comicus. "Mark's face was marked up and he too was in the sexy little motion capture suit as he transformed into the Hulk, but for the most part I was making the movements as big as I possibly could, but not to take anything away from Mark."

Hot Toys has revealed the designs for its "Avengers" movie Hawkeye figure, giving fans a close-up look at Jeremy Renner's costume design.

Directed by Joss Whedon and starring everybody. Opens May 4

DARK KNIGHT RISES

Comic Book Movie has posted an interview with "Full Metal Jacket" actor Matthew Modine about his role in Christopher Nolan's "Dark Knight Rises" and the overall attitude and atmosphere on set.

"This may not mean anything to anyone reading this: Christopher [Nolan] doesn’t have chairs on the set," Modine told Comic Book Movie. "No director's chair. He also doesn’t have a 'video village' meaning an area for everyone to sit (because there are no chairs) and watch the playback of scenes. Nolan stands beside the camera and listens and watches and when necessary give very specific directions. He also hires terrific artists to work beside him. He casts his crew with the same care he does his actors."

Stuntman Mark Dealessandro spoke to ActionFest about his work as a mercenary in "Dark Knight Rises," providing vague details about a fight between Batman and Catwoman.

"I got to do some really cool hand to hand combat with 12 mercenaries," Dealessandro told ActionFest. "Anne Hathaway is there in her nice Catwoman outfit and Christian Bale as Batman. It is on a rooftop and the Bat Copter is there which is the bomb. It was unbelievable."

CAPTAIN AMERICA 2

Spinoff Online reports "Community" directors Anthony and Joe Russo are on a short list to helm the "Captain America" sequel. Other directors on the list include "The Italian Job's" F. Gary Gray and "The Adjustment Bureau" director George Nolfi. No director has been selected as of yet, but in the report by Vulture, an insider claims Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige "likes to see if he gets along with people before he’ll decide about spending the next two years with them. And apparently, they hit it off with Kevin in the room."

O.C.T.

According to Spinoff Online, Rosario Dawson is joining forces with "The Walking Dead" Executive Producer Gale Anne Hurd to develop "O.C.T.: Occult Crimes Taskforce" for A&E. The comic, created by Dawson and written by David Atchison with art by Tony Sasteen, focuses on paranormal investigator Sophia Ortiz, who works for a 200-year-old police force protecting New York from interdimensional and magical threats. The pilot script will be written by "Millennium" writer Jorge Zamacona.

HUNGRY FOR MOVIES

I'll be headed out to see "The Hunger Games" a week after its release, but if you're looking for a new film to see, check out Katie Calautti's review of "Mirror, Mirror." Otherwise, enjoy April Fools Day!

"'Mirror Mirror' is a distinctive, gorgeous, entrancing movie that will capture the imaginations of children and adults alike," Calautti says in her review. "It’s a film that’ll undoubtedly age well, regardless of box-office performance -- but it deserves every ounce of the positive reception it receives."
