INTRO

So what's a nice boy like me doing with Sara Pezzini? Well, first thing I'm going to do is get her into bed.

Time for true confessions: I hadn't read too many issues of Witchblade before being invited to take over the writing duties with #80. I was familiar with the concept, I saw a few episodes of the TV series, but actual issues of the series? Few and far between.

Which might not be all that different from you, dear reader. Witchblade is a book everybody knows, but maybe not everybody is picking up. My job is to change that. Sure, Witchblade has a reputation as a "hot chick" book, and Sara's not going to get suddenly frumpy as of #80. But hopefully I can make you care about her character no matter what she is (or isn't) wearing. Hopefully I can make her world and her story interesting enough to keep you coming back every month. A New York City Police detective, a powerful supernatural artifact-I've got pretty good tools to work with. And my promise is a ground-floor read. Never read an issue of Witchblade? Doesn't matter. You'll learn everything you need to know in issue #80.

Signing on with me is penciler Michael Choi, a new name but someone you're going to be hearing about. You'd have to look a long time to find a harder worker in comics. Mike's getting to do his first cover ever for the issue, along with covers by my buddies Greg Land and Frank Cho.

You need something else to convince you? Okay, my other promise to you: Sara Pezzini. In bed. If that doesn't make you curious enough to pick up the book, I don't know what will.
