Diamond Comic Distributors has released sales numbers for the month of April, showing that the AvX halo effect is expanding with three more Marvel titles breaking into the top ten for the month while DC continues to maintain its lock on the remaining six positions.
Marvel maintained its hold on the comic book direct market for a third straight month thanks to the continuing strength of "Avengers Vs. X-Men" with the second issue of the series ranking as the top-selling issue of the month. Sister title "AVX Vs." debuted in the number four slot as "Uncanny X-Men" and "Avengers" both muscled their way back into the top ten and positions #9 and 10, respectively.
DC Comics continued to rule the top ten with Batman taking the position of the publisher's top-selling title from "Justice League" for the month, settling in at #2 and 3 on the chart.
Overall, Marvel titles accounted for 34.64% of the month's sales in dollar share to DC's 30.12%, and 39.07% to DC's 34.06 in unit share. Image Comics placed third, boasting an impressive gain to 8.60% in dollar share over March's 6.66%. Image also rose in unit share from 5.59% in May to 6.61% in April.
