Official Press Release

The Hero Initiative, a non-prophit organization which helps comic book creators in need, has artist Stuart Immonen and writer John Layman leading their guest list at Phoenix Comic Con this Memorial Day weekend, May 24-27. The convention will be held at the Phoenix Convention Center located at 95 S 3rd St. in Phoenix, Arizona.

Layman, who is best known for his dark comedy hit with Image Comics, "Chew," will be hosting a workshop to help dedicated new comic book creators develop a pointed pitch of their comic or graphic novel on Sunday, May 27 from 1:30-2:30 pm in room 127B. Seating is limited, and your $25 ticket donation can be made at The Hero Initiative booth #1048-1050.

Fans also have a chance to win one of four daily 11 x 17 commission sketches by Immonen, who provided pencils on Marvel's recently concluded "Fear Itself" event. To get in, raffle tickets must be purchased at $1 each. Four tickets will be drawn per day, and winners will pay $200 for a single-character, full-figure 11 x 17 grey marker wash drawing! Paper is not supplied, and the drawings will take place at noon on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

Don't miss Saturday's JLA 100 Signing, including artists Francis Manapul, George Perez, Scott Koblish, Andy Kuhn, and many more! Plus, Hero is offering a Spawn/Lady Death Phoenix Con print, signed by "Spawn" creator, Todd McFarlane and "Lady Death" creator, Brian Pulido for a $20 donation! Each print is numbered out of 250.

100% of proceeds benefit The Hero Initiative!
