Actor James Marsden is returning to the world of comic adaptations, though this time the star won't be playing in the world of big superheroes.

Variety has the story that the actor has joined the Universal adaptation of BOOM! Studios' "Two Guns" comic created by Steven Grant and Mat Santolouco.

Already starring Mark Whalberg and Denzel Washington as a pair of undercover agents who unwittingly team up to steal money from the CIA. Marsden will play a naval commander caught up in the twisting plot.

Directed by Baltasar Kormakur, the "Two Guns" film is written by Blake Masters and produced by a cadre of Hollywood types including BOOM! execs present and past Ross Richie and Andrew Cosby.
