Although the Phoenix has been having a field day in Marvel Comics' "Avengers Vs. X-Men," its most famous host has been largely absent from the pages of the event -- which makes an image revealed by Entertainment Weekly incredibly intriguing. EW has posted a lone image by Joe Quesada confirmed by Marvel to be none other than Jean Grey. Sporting an outfit reminiscent of her Marvel Girl uniform, the image is stated to be a tease of things to come following "Avengers Vs. X-Men" for an "upcoming initiative by Marvel Comics" that will "radically alter the Marvel universe as you know it." Jean's presence is not imaginary, it's not a part of the Ultimate universe, it's not a hologram. The character's most recent death came in 2004 during Grant Morrison's run on "New X-Men," and Jean has stayed dead and buried (for the most part) ever since.
More details are slated to come during this year's Comic-Con International at San Diego.
