Marvel Comics brings the Avengers to face one of the greatest threats in the Marvel U for "Avengers Assemble" #7 by Brian Michael Bendis and Mark Bagley and have released a teaser image bringing that threat to new heights. On an image with the words "Who Needs An Infinity Gauntlet?" emblazoned across the top, the Mad Titan Thanos stands triumphant with the Cosmic Cube in his grasp.

Introducing Thanos and the Cosmic Cube to "Avengers Assemble" is an understandable move on the part of the publisher, considering the Titan's appearance in "The Avengers," which also prominently featured the Cosmic Cube (called "The Tesseract" in the Marvel Cinematic Universe). In many ways, "Avengers Assemble" may be the book to introduce fans of the Marvel films to comics -- especially when Earth's Mightiest Heroes team up with the Guardians of the Galaxy (announced at CCI 2012 to be the next installment in the Marvel's Phase Two group of films) to try and take down Thanos before it's too late.

Check out the teaser and solicitation info below.

With the Mad Titan, Thanos, out of the reach from Earth’s Mightiest – his quest for power and domination over the Marvel Universe continues in Avengers Assemble #7! But the Avengers won’t go down without a fight, and courtesy of Brian Michael Bendis and Mark Bagley, they’re bringing the Guardians of the Galaxy with them! But can even their combined strength defeat Thanos with a cosmic cube in his possession? Find out in Avengers Assemble #7, hitting comic shops everywhere, the Marvel Comics app, and Marvel Digital Comic Shop this September.
