THE AVENGERS 2

Obviously, the biggest news in the past 24 hours is that "The Avengers" writer/director Joss Whedon will return as writer and director for "The Avengers 2" and will develop a Marvel-centric television show for ABC.

Marvel further released a statement to HitFix going into more detail about Whedon's involvement with Marvel Studios.

"Joss Whedon has signed an exclusive deal with Marvel Studios for film and television through the end of June 2015," the statement reads. "As part of that deal, Whedon will write and direct Marvel's 'The Avengers 2' as well as help develop a new live action series for Marvel Television at ABC. He will also contribute creatively to the next phase of Marvel’s cinematic universe."

CBR is currently running a poll to discover which Marvel property Whedon is most likely adapting for television, so contribute if you have the chance.

DARK KNIGHT RISES

A GQ interview with "The Dark Knight Rises" costume designer Lindy Hemming reveals a deleted scene from the film that would have shed some light on the mask worn by Tom Hardy's Bane.

"Well, if you look at the film, unless they've cut it -- and I'm sure they haven't -- there's a whole early section for Tom Hardy where he's fighting and being taunted by people," Hemming told GQ. "He's got chains on him, and he's standing on a wooden thing while people are attacking him. And in that scene, he's wearing a much more ragged, primitive version of the mask."

The scene, however, was cut from the final version. Hopefully, fans will get to see it on the DVD.

Now in theaters

THE WALKING DEAD

SpoilerTV has posted this awesome new photo of "The Walking Dead" season three cast in preparation for the upcoming season of the AMC show.

Season three premieres this fall on AMC

THE HOBBIT: AN UNEXPECTED JOURNEY

According to Variety, Peter Jackson's 48 FPS version of "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" will not see a very wide release. According to sources, the high frame rate version of the film will only go to select locations -- maybe not even to all major cities. If you're interested in seeing the higher frame rate version of Bilbo Baggins' adventures, keep an eye out as this continues to develop.

Opens December 14

NINJA TURTLES

It was announced a few months ago that Michael Bay's upcoming film adaptation of "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" had been pushed back and original TMNT creator Kevin Eastman spoke with CBR, explaining some of the reasons for the delay.

"Essentially they pushed it back for two reasons: One is the director, Jonathan Liebesman, wanted to make sure he could do the effects to the level he wants them at, and the fight scenes to the way they should be," Eastman told CBR. "Also, their release date is almost exactly on the 30th [TMNT] anniversary. May 5, 1984 is when the first Turtles comic came out. May 16, 2014, is almost exactly 30 years after. So basically it's an anniversary movie now."

Opens May 16, 2014

FANTASTIC FOUR

Black Film spoke with original "Fantastic Four" director Tim Story about his upcoming film "Think Like A Man," and the director gave his thoughts on Fox's upcoming reboot of the franchise.

"I knew that would happen. It’s inevitable," Story told Black Film. "I was part of a franchise where the guy who’s going to do the next one will do 2 or 3 films and someone else will come in when they reinvent it again. I literally can’t wait to see the next one because you want to see what they do with it. It’s all good. It’s about commerce and the also the industry that we are in."

Story further said he would like to see a film adaptation of the "Ultimate Fantastic Four" origin story, saying, "In my opinion, that would be amazing."

BATMAN: MAYBE
