GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY

Big news over the weekend -- Marvel is super close to nabbing a director for "Guardians of the Galaxy." Reportedly, "Slither" director James Gunn is the frontrunner to helm Marvel Studios' first foray into the cosmic side of the Marvel U. While other directors were also reported as under consideration by the studio The Playlist reports reps of directing duo Ryan Fleck and Anna Boden have denied the two are being considered for the position.

IRON MAN 3

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, actress Rebecca Hall spoke very briefly about her involvement in "Iron Man 3" as Maya Hansen and what drove her to take on the role.

"I decided to do 'Iron Man 3' because I've never done the 'Hurry Up And Wait' movie before. Even the studio movies I've done have been small studio movies, or indie films that we made on a wing and a prayer. I love those, but 'Iron Man' is refreshing in a way because it's something out of my realm of experiences."

CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER

According to The New York Post, casting talks have begun for the female lead of "Captain America: The Winter Soldier. The Post reports three actresses under consideration: "Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World's" Anna Kendrick, "Like Crazy" actress Felicity Jones and "Fright Night's" Imogen Poots. No further details were revealed about the role.

NEMESIS

Mark Millar took to the Millarworld message boards with a quick update on the "Nemesis" film adaptation. Millar confirms Joe Carnahan is slated to direct a script co-written with his brother Matt Carnahan. The writer further states, "Absolutely no casting has been done formally although you can google the MTV interview from last January where he and Sir Liam Neeson are chatting about it."

THE WALKING DEAD

Den of Geek has posted a new clip from the upcoming "Dredd" remake featuring Judge Dredd and Judge Anderson in a whole lot of trouble when the villainous Ma-Ma discovers their presence.

OLD BOY

According to The L.A. Times, Samuel L. Jackson and Bruce Hornsby have been cast in Spike Lee's remake of "Old Boy." The L.A. Times describes Jackson's role as "a small but critical part" in the upcoming film: a man who is being tortured by the hero in a key revenge scene.

R.I.P. TONY SCOTT

Tragic news hit this morning that "Top Gun" director Tony Scott jumped to his death Sunday afternoon from the Vincent Thomas Bridge in San Pedro, California. Scott is survived by his wife Donna Wilson Scott, their twin sons Frank and Max and his brother Ridley.
