ARROW

"Arrow" executive producers Andrew Kreisberg and Marc Guggenheim spoke with Zap2It about the mythology of the upcoming Green Arrow adaptation, including whether viewers will see some form of the Justice League in a world without powers.

"I think as far as those big names like Clark Kent and Bruce Wayne and Hal Jordan and Diana Prince, we're going to shy away from that, especially because we really want to establish Oliver Queen as our hero and our lead," Guggenheim told Zap2It. "We're not looking to do Justice League as our TV show. We're doing a show called 'Arrow,' which is about Oliver Queen. Anyone who comes into his world will be a supporting character. Those characters aren't supporting characters. Those are leads. So we'll be focusing more on supporting cast in the DC universe. People who come in and complement Oliver, not overtake him."

Premieres October 10 on the CW

HELLBOY 3

"Hellboy" star Ron Perlman spoke with MTV about the possibility of making "Hellboy 3" a reality following Guillermo del Toro's comments that he'd like to see the movie happen -- but the actor doesn't know very much more than the fans.

"The only thing that I heard was when I was sitting next to him, when he spontaneously made the announcement that he was going to start actively searching for the funding for the film," Perlman told MTV. "And he's been very busy in post-production since Comic-Con. I haven't seen or spoken to him, so I only know as much as you guys. If I have a scoop, I'll give you a call!"

THE HOBBIT: AN UNEXPECTED JOURNEY

Thorin Oakenshield is getting some major love this week in terms of new images. Sword retailer CB Swords has a new image for Orcrist, the sword of Thorin Oakenshield.

"In Third Age of Middle-earth, Thorin Oakenshield and his Company of Dwarves came upon a troll lair in Rhûdaur," the description reads. "There Thorin found an ancient Elven sword named Orcrist, forged by the high Elves of the West, in Gondolin. Thorin claimed Orcrist for his own and vowed to cleave Goblins with it once again. He wielded the sword through most of the Quest for Erebor, using it against the Goblins of the Misty Mountains. The Goblins called it “Biter” and hated and feared it.

"The blade of Orcrist features a curved leaf shape on one side, and a straight edge on the other, a fitting design for a blade meant to cleave Orcs and Goblins. Adorning the pommel is an emblem of the heraldry of Ecthelion of the Fountain. The hilt is shaped from the tooth of a dragon. It is unknown if the tooth was acquired prior to the fifth battle of the First Age, or added to the sword with the inscription in the millennia after the Fall of Gondolin, most likely by the Dwarves of the North."

The sword is currently available for pre-order at the price of $199.95.

ROBOCOP

According to Variety's Jeff Sneider, "House" star Hugh Laurie has ended talks to play the villain in the upcoming "Robocop" remake. The news comes as a slight surprise considering how long Laurie's name had been attached to the project. More news as it develops.

UNCHARTED: DRAKE'S FORTUNE

Variety reports developments for Sony's film adaptation of the "Uncharted: Drake's Fortune" video game. According to Variety, "National Treasure" writers Marianne and Cormac Wibberley have been hired to rewrite a script of the adaptation. Further, Neil Burger is no longer attached to direct and Sony will hold off on finding a new director until the Wibberleys finish their rewrite.

DREDD

A new "Dredd" featurette posted by YouTube user moonshine 5757 details how the filmmakers captured the effects of the fictitious drug Slo-Mo with actual slow motion cameras for a psychedelic effect.

Opens September 21

AKIRA

Actor Paul Dano spoke with The Playlist about his desire to play Tetsuo in a live-action adaptation of "Akira." Dano tested for the role of Tetsuo with a few different filmmakers, but nothing ever came together for the adaptation.

"I had a meeting with Tony Gilroy, and I had a… thing on the 'Akira' thing. It’s somewhat nebulous, since ‘Akira’ never got made," Dano told The Playlist. "I truthfully feel awkward speaking about it, because things that don’t happen, it feels weird. … I had a screen test for the guy who has the powers, did they change the names? Tetsuo. I've had more than one meeting on it with different filmmakers, it’s been around for awhile. … The only way that movie would be worthwhile would be if someone like Rian Johnson did it or something, that’s the version they should make,"

RC HELICARRIER

Anyone who says a Helicarrier can't exist is now a liar -- as long as they're talking about a tiny, remote-controlled version. It's still a cool video, though.
