THOR: THE DARK WORLD

While "Thor: The Dark World" news has mostly been limited lately to new looks at the set, The Examiner spoke with actor Idris Elba about his role as Heimdall, which has a planned expansion for the sequel.

"In the new film we're going to get to know Heimdall the Asgardian a bit better, and we're going to get to know Asgard a bit better," Elba told The Examiner. "I can't say too much, but the expansion of Thor in his world is going to be huge.

"My part was very small and functional in the first film, but I still felt very privileged to play him -- especially since Heimdall looks a certain way and has a Nordic lineage -- and here I was playing this character and bringing him to life in a different way," the actor continued. "It felt quite groundbreaking to be a part of that."

NINJA TURTLES

Yesterday, the leaked "Ninja Turtles" script got slammed by fans and TMNT co-creator Peter Laird. The script involved a very complicated story involving the Turtles actually being from Dimension X -- essentially, aliens.

"Someone else alerted me to the existence of this script, and I just a few minutes ago finished reading it," said Laird. "If it is, in fact, the actual draft that was rejected and caused the production of the next TMNT movie to be pushed back to 2014 because the script was unsatisfactory, then I think all true TMNT fans should be grateful to the new 'powers that be' that they did not allow this wretched thing to go any further. It could definitely be taken as a good sign if that is the case."

SHERLOCK

Shortlist has a massive interview with "Sherlock" star Benedict Cumberbatch, where he speaks briefly about his roles in "Star Trek 2," "The Hobbit" and, of course, the current status of the next season of "Sherlock."

"We’ve had a couple of meetings but I don’t think we’re filming until January," Cumberbatch told Shortlist. "I need to have some more talks with [creators Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss] and tease them about the fact that I do have a career outside of Sherlock now, so they’d better f*cking write something."

METAL GEAR SOLID

At the "Metal Gear" anniversary event in Tokyo, Konami announced a "Metal Gear Solid" film is in the works at Columbia Pictures. Avi Arad, former CEO of Marvel Studios and "Amazing Spider-Man" producer, will produce.

"For many years I fought to bring comics to theaters," Arad said at the event. "Comic books are now biggest genre in cinema. Video games are the comic books of today. … We will take our time and tell the story with all the nuances, ideology, cautionary tales needed."
