Y: THE LAST MAN

We've been burned before, so it's tough to swallow the news from Vulture that New Line Cinema may finally be putting the wheels into motion for a big screen adaptation of "Y: The Last Man." The film has been in development for nearly ten years, but Vulture reports New Line is "very pleased" with a script from Matthew Federman and Stephen Scaia, and has begun meeting with candidates to direct.

THOR: THE DARK WORLD

WH Photography has been pretty good about posting behind-the-scenes photos from the set of "Thor: The Dark World" and has updated this morning with a few more featuring helmeted warriors on site.

However, The Daily Mail has something even more exciting: a look at a wounded Jamie Alexander as Sif. It looks like Alexander's character may have a larger role this time around.

Finally, a new rumor has surfaced that Viggo Mortensen may be in negotiations with Marvel for an "unspecified role" in a Phase Two film. The news comes from /Film, but originates from the @RogerWardell twitter that has been posting Marvel film rumors since May. Speculation is that Mortensen is being courted for the role of Doctor Strange -- but it's all conjecture at this point based off two separate tweets from the @RogerWardell account.

THE AVENGERS 2

24 Hours Vancouver spoke with Joss Whedon at the Toronto International Film Festival about his adaptation of "Much Ado About Nothing" and his work in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, including "S.H.I.E.L.D." and "The Avengers 2."

"The creation of the team is not the happy ending," Whedon told 24 Hours. "It is the beginning of something that is complex and difficult, and now I get to dig a little deeper. And maybe, while I'm digging, just twist that knife. And that's exciting for me."

Meanwhile, Gwyneth Paltrow spoke with E! Online about the possibility of returning to play Pepper Potts in "The Avengers 2" -- the prognosis is not good.

"I don't know," Paltrow told E! Online. "I'm getting old for this s--t, you know what I mean?"

Paltrow has so far portrayed Pepper Potts in three Marvel Cinematic Universe films, with a fourth appearance scheduled for next year's "Iron Man 3."

Directed by Joss Whedon and starring everybody. Opens May 1, 2015

MAN OF STEEL

Actress Amy Adams spoke with Collider briefly about her role as Lois Lane in Zack Snyder's "Man of Steel," praising star Henry Cavill's portrayal of Superman.

"It was great. It was really good," Adams told Collider. "Henry [Cavill] – I hope you guys love him as Superman – worked so hard. He is just yummy and really committed to the role. He really did a good job. I haven't seen the final cut and I have only seen a couple of the teasers. So I am with you guys. I know it because I was there but there was so much that I wasn't involved in that I can't wait to see."

Adams didn't say much about her portrayal of Lois Lane, but she did tease a little of what to expect from the character this time around.

"I think she is a little more…we will have to see," said Adams. "I don't know. I mean, she is definitely a pistol still and she definitely gets herself in a lot of trouble still. But she is not as competitive, I would say, with Clark."

THE WALKING DEAD

Looking forward to the season premiere of "The Walking Dead" in a few weeks? Spinoff Online has posted a video tour of the prison with creator Robert Kirkman for your viewing pleasure.

"I never imagined that I would be here standing in this prison," Kirkman said. "It's really strange to think about all the pages coming in from Charlie Adlard, y'know, seven, eight years ago when we were doing the Prison storyline in the comic book, and watching the way he drew the prison cells and all the little nuances and stuff we put in the comic-book Prison and to see people looking at those comics and taking inspiration from that and then constructing it in real life and being able to actually go on to second levels and walk up stairs and go in cells and stuff is absolutely just completely bizarre. [...] Things that are in comic books should never exist in real life. I feel really uncomfortable here, frankly."

Premieres October 14 on AMC

CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER

Collider's Stephen Weintraub revealed via Twitter yesterday that filming on "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" begins March 2013. Weintraub revealed nothing else, but cited his source as star Chris Evans. Now there's a release date and a starting shoot date -- the only thing left is discovering every last role in the film.
