GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY

Yesterday, director James Gunn confirmed he'll be taking the helm on "Guardians of the Galaxy" both as director and to rewrite the script.

"For a month or so there’s been a lot of Internet speculation about my involvement with Marvel's 'Guardians of the Galaxy,'" Gunn said via Facebook. "Until now I haven’t said anything, because I’m trying to be less expulsive about this project than I am about the rest of my life. But last night I got the go-ahead from Kevin Feige to let you all know that, yes, indeed, I am rewriting and directing 'Guardians of the Galaxy.' As a lifelong lover of Marvel comics, space epics, and raccoons, this is the movie I’ve been waiting to make since I was nine years old. Kevin, Joss, and all the folks at Marvel have been amazing collaborators so far, and we’re committed to bringing you something majestic, beautiful, and unique. I am incredibly excited. I am also incredibly grateful to the fans and the press for all their words of encouragement and support regarding my involvement with this project since the news first leaked. Thanks -- you have, honestly, touched and overwhelmed me. And that’s it for now. Other than the occasional photos of my dog and cat here on Facebook, I’ll talk to you again in August 2014 when Guardians is released!"

MAN OF STEEL

MTV spoke with "Man of Steel" leading lady Amy Adams about her experience with star Henry Cavill.

"You feel like you're in scenes with Superman," Adams told MTV. "He is completely invested and yoked and he just really took the role very seriously and yeah, he's fantastic, he's just so yum. He's the nicest guy, aside from the face."

Adams also confirmed she's been in a few scenes with Michael Shannon as General Zod.

THE AVENGERS 2

There's a great interview with Joss Whedon over at Fast Company entitled "Why You Need A Creative Shift Instead Of A Vacation." While it deals mostly with Whedon's "Much Ado About Nothing," which was recently picked up by Lionsgate for wide release, the writer/director also expounded on why he decided to come back to the Marvel Cinematic Universe for "The Avengers 2."

"There's a business aspect to it and I would be disingenuous not to say that, but the question for me is, 'Do I have another story to tell about these people?'" Whedon told Fast Company. "So we worked on the business side of it and I didn’t think it was going to happen -- I was like, 'I'm never going to do this again.' But once they worked on the business aspect of it I thought that seems fair and cool, so, the question was, Do I have another thing to say? I was in London and I went to a pub and had some fish and chips and a pint and started writing in my notebook. I'm writing if I was going to do this what would I say and 40 minutes later I filled the notebook. So I text my agent and said to make the deal. I’m so in love with that universe and the characters and they way they were played and I have so much more I want to do with them. I know I can't match the success of the first one but I can try to make a better film and that’s what I'm excited about, that's the new room of fear I'm entering now."

SIN CITY: A DAME TO KILL FOR

In an interview with MTV, Rosario Dawson confirmed "Sin City: A Dame to Kill For" will begin shooting in November.

"I'm not sure if I'm supposed to say that, but I'm going to say November, I'm going to be honest and put it out there," Dawson told MTV. "It's sort of a prequel to the 'Sin City' we've already watched, so you'll understand the references we were making in that one. The new face thing, all of that interesting stuff."
