In anticipation of BOOM! Studios' new series "Deathmatch" by Paul Jenkins with art by Carlos Magno, the publisher has provided CBR with an exclusive first look at the debut issue's cover by Whilce Portacio. The December-debuting series focuses on a mysterious super villain who has imprisoned the world's greatest superheroes in a competition to the death until there's only one left standing.
"I'm so excited to be working with Carlos Magno on 'Deathmatch.' For years, fans have argued the relative merits of one character against the next; the Internet is rife with 'rumble' boards dedicated to characters facing off against each other," Jenkins told CBR. "Well, we're going to show those rumbles exactly as they should be. It’s going to be huge and we’re going to make it stick! Let the Deathmatches begin!"
Check back with CBR on Monday for a full interview with Paul Jenkins with more details about "Deathmatch."

THE SUPERHERO BATTLE ROYALE YOU CAN’T GET FROM MARVEL OR DC! A powerful and mysterious supervillain has imprisoned the world’s greatest superheroes, forcing them to fight to the death until there is but one victor. It’s kill or be killed as we settle the score on all those hypothetical superhero match-ups in the ultimate DEATHMATCH.
Written by industry legend Paul Jenkins (SENTRY, INHUMANS) and drawn by comics superstar Carlos Magno (PLANET OF THE APES, TRANSFORMERS), DEATHMATCH is a dark, psychological deconstruction of the superhero genre that can’t be missed.
