THE WALKING DEAD

Has "The Walking Dead" already been renewed for a fourth season before its third even airs? A contest posted by AMC seems to indicate it's true. The network has joined with the American Red Cross to encourage people to donate blood. During the nationwide drive, donors will have the opportunity to win a 3-day, 2-night trip to "The Walking Dead" for season four production.

Assuming the contest does serve as a confirmation of "The Walking Dead" coming back for a fourth season, it doesn't come as much of a surprise. The show is a ratings juggernaut for AMC and broke a number of records during its second season.

Premieres October 14 on AMC

IRON MAN 3

NBC Latino spoke with Marvel Studios Vice President of Visual Effects Victoria Alonso about a number of Marvel Cinematic universe projects, including the upcoming "Iron Man 3."

"This is a franchise I love -- it’s my baby," Alonso told NBC Latino. "It's going to be a better film than the others and I’m working every day to make sure I do right by the fans who are looking forward to seeing it in May 2013."

Alonso has been onboard since the original "Iron Man" and served as executive producer for both "The Avengers" and "Item 47."

THE BOYS

Adam McKay took to Twitter in response to Jeff Sneider's comment that "The Boys" film adaptation got greenlit at Paramount, denying the rumor.

"Not a green light but active development," McKay said. "It's still alive!"

Directed by McKay, the adaptation of "The Boys" by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson has been kicking around for a while, but there haven't been any recently announced concrete details. Good to know it hasn't bitten the dust.

DAWN OF THE PLANET OF THE APES

Following Rupert Wyatt's exit from "Dawn of the Planet of the Apes," 20th Century Fox has put together a short list for the director's replacement. According to Deadline, that list includes "Cloverfield's" Matt Reeves, "The Disappearance of Alice Creed's" J Blakeson, "28 Weeks Later" director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo, "Take Shelter's" Jeff Nichols, "Pacific Rim" director Guillermo del Toro, "The Impossible's" Juan Antonio Bayona and "Looper" director Rian Johnson.
