Earlier this month, writer Jonathan Hickman teased that he'd be introducing a bunch of new villains during Marvel Comics' upcoming "Avengers" relaunch for Marvel NOW! To that end, Marvel has provided CBR with an exclusive glimpse of Hickman's script for "Avengers" #1 with a brief description and moment for new villain Ex Nihilo.

As revealed at the beginning of October, Hickman and artist Jerome Opeña's first arc (entitled "Avengers World") will focus on a new mission statement for Earth's Mightiest Heroes following "Avengers Vs. X-Men" and start assembling the new roster for the team.

"In a world where threats are more pervasive and bigger and bigger and bigger … the Avengers have to become something bigger, something more in order to do what it is that they're supposed to do," Hickman said. "We open with them facing a threat that is larger and different than anything they've face before."

Check out Hickman's script excerpt and Opeña's pencils from Page 6 below.
