Mark Millar took to his Millarworld forums to discuss his favorite comics and films of 2012, as well as looking forward to 2013 and teased a bit of what to expect from "The Wolverine," which Millar predicted would be "the big surprise" of the year.
"The script is amazing and Mangold is such a brilliant director," Millar said. "Seen the first 10 mins and it looks like David Lean doing a superhero movie. This the one that's going to surprise people. This and 'First Class' were Year Zero for the Fox Marvel movies as far as I'm concerned."

X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST
Speaking of Wolverine, Bryan Singer continued his slow-roll of cast announcements via Twitter, stating Hugh Jackman has joined the cast of "X-Men: Days of Future Past." The director did a similar announcement for "X-Men" alums Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen, who later said they hadn't started negotiations, despite Singer's announcement. Until there's more information, definitely take this one with a grain of salt -- though, Singer tweeting the information is certainly more reputable than most other sources.

Previews World spoke briefly with Head of Marvel TV Jeph Loeb, who gave a very, very small update on when viewers might expect to see Joss Whedon's heavily anticipated "S.H.I.E.L.D." pilot.
"We have a 'little' pilot for television that you might have heard about called Marvel's 'S.H.I.E.L.D.' co-written, directed, and Executive Produced by none other than Joss Whedon!" Loeb told Previews. "Working with Joss, Jed Whedon, Maurissa Tancharoen, Jeffrey Bell on the show is a blast! And bringing in Clark Gregg to play Agent Phil Coulson -- the best! Hopefully we will be on in the Fall of 2013 on ABC!"
Meanwhile, Samuel L. Jackson spoke with MTV, stating that he'd like to at least have his voice associated with the program.
"I don't know. I keep hearing about it, and I haven't talked to Joss about it," Jackson told MTV. "But in my mind, I would tend to think that he would, if nothing else, be like Charlie in 'Charlie's Angels.' At least be the voice!"
Hopefully airs Fall 2013 on ABC

In a recent interview with Comics Alliance spoke with "The Umbrella Academy" creator and My Chemical Romance frontman Gerard Way about the status of the film adaptation of "The Umbrella Academy."
"I'd say it's hanging out a little bit. Every once in awhile there's a burst of movement and it's kind of how I've noticed Hollywood works," Way told Comics Alliance. "There's a burst of movement and then a burst of nothing. We actually recently got a script and it's really great, so I think it's just a matter of waiting for [Universal Studios] wanting to take the risk on it."
Josh Brolin spoke with The Playlist about his leading role in Spike Lee's adaptation of "Oldboy," calling the film "brilliant."
“It's more of an interpretation than it is a remake," Brolin told The Playlist. "I called Park Chan-Wook myself and I asked him, 'You know, I need your blessing in order to do this, because I won't do this without your full support.' He said, 'Absolutely, just don't do the same movie,' and we're not. I think it's going to turn out brilliant."
