Cable and Death will appear in the "Deadpool" video game.

Since its surprise announcement at Comic-Con International 2012, details have been sparse on developer High Moon Studios' Mature-rated "Deadpool" video game. However, the dry spell of info about the Merc with a Mouth's first solo game appearance is at an end courtesy of images posted by Deadpool co-creator Rob Liefeld. On his personal blog, Liefeld posted photos from Xbox Online Magazine revealing Cable will appear in the upcoming title published by Activision.

"Very exciting news leaked today in the form of two advance screen shots of the upcoming Deadpool video game! This first one features Deadpool in action, a hint of much more to come I’m sure. These shots are from Xbox Online Magazine," Liefeld said on his blog. "The second and possibly more exciting news was the official confirmation that Cable is featured in the game. I mean, was there any doubt?"

Liefeld created the Cable character with "New Mutants" writer Louise Simonson. Although it's currently unknown what the extent of his role within the game will be, Cable's appearance in Deadpool's game will likely come as a pleasant surprise to fans of the long-running and humorous "Cable and Deadpool" ongoing Marvel Comics series. Deadpool co-creator Fabian Niceza's team-up book between Cable and Deadpool ran for 50 issues before getting cancelled in 2008 to make way for writer Daniel Way's ongoing "Deadpool" series, which wrapped last year. Way is also writing the "Deadpool" game.

The photos posted by Liefeld also indicate an appearance by Death, who had a large role in Way's recent "Deadpool" run. Liefeld further teased that another character he had a hand in creating might also appear in the "Deadpool" game.

"Another of my creations, Domino, debuted in my first issue of as writer of 'New Mutants'#98," he said. "Word is that she’ll be appearing in the 'Deadpool' video game adding even more kick for your buck!"

Daniel Way teased the game in October while speaking with CBR about the end of his lengthy "Deadpool" run.

"Not only is it a new story, it's a new kind of story," Way told CBR. "To the best of my knowledge, there's never been a game quite like the one we're working on, and the reason is simple; there's never been a Deadpool game before. This game will change your life."

"Deadpool" has a tentative 2013 release date and will be available for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
