This past weekend Los Angeles hosted a couple of comic events that gave fans a chance to get up close and personal with some of their favorite comics professionals. CBR News was there on hand in a paparazzi role with pictures from both events.

Things started Saturday afternoon at Earth 2 Comics in Sherman Oaks, CA. Joe Casey was signing while the store hosted a big holiday sale. Fellow comics writer Mark Waid stopped by to say hi as well.

Sunday afternoon saw the monthly Los Angeles Comic Book & Science Fiction Convention take place down at the Shrine Convention Center by USC. That day played host to a Q&A with "Blade: Trinity" director/writer David Goyer and star Jessica Biel. The room was packed and Goyer & Biel happily fielded questions from fans in attendance.

Getting closer! And even closer, but now on the left side of the room.

Comics publisher Atomeka also made an appearance at the show, bringing out two of their big guns for the show - Dave Johnson and, in a rare convention appearance, Keith Giffen. A host of other comics pros came down to say hi as well.

Not pictured, but also in attendance, were Andrew Cosby ("Damn Nation") and Mark Waid.

Atomeka had copies of "Hero Squared," the new one-shot soon-to-be-a-series from Giffen, DeMatteis and Joe Abraham, available for purchase (for more on the series click here or here). They also had for sale copies of a limited series of 500 LA Comic Book & Sci-Fi Convention exclusive cover which looks surprisingly familiar to something that we ran on CBR a couple of months back. Conspiracy? Most likely.
