This weekend marks the 110th New York Toy Fair, an annual event open to toy industry professionals, buyers and the press, allowing toy companies to show off items they're selling throughout the year. It gives them a chance to preview merchandise for the public by way of the press and the people who make purchasing decisions for places like Walmart, Toys 'R' Us and smaller venues. Even though the event doesn't technically kick off until tomorrow, there has been plenty of news coming out in anticipation of the show.

THE WALKING DEAD | MTV Geek revealed a first look at the brand new Michonne statue from McFarlane Toys based on Robert Kirkman's "The Walking Dead." The statue stands 14.5 inches tall on a rotating base and features the sword wielding fan favorite character going nuts on a pair of roamers. Kirkman said the "over-the-top" piece turned out to be "a really cool statue."

THE WALKING DEAD | In other "Walking Dead" news including the sword slinging Michonne, AMC announced the line up of McFarlane Toys' third series of TV based toys. You can see Michonne as played by Danai Gurira and the rest of the series includes Merle Dixon (Michael Rooker), the Autopsy Zombie from Season Two and Michonne's jawless pet zombies.

NEW 52 | DC Collectibles released a batch of information and images heading into Toy Fair, continuing to produce figures in the 6-inch scale based on the New 52 comics in both singles and 2 packs. Martian Manhunter gets a solo release while The Flash comes with Vibe and Wonder Woman is packed with Katana in what seems to be a veteran/rookie set up.

INJUSTICE | The upcoming game "Injustice: Gods Among Us" takes a cast of characters from the DC Universe and rewrites some of their history, giving justification for their coming to blows. DC Collectibles is taking those characters and making 3 3/4 inch action figure 2 packs including Wonder Woman with Solomon Grundy, Harley Quinn with Cyborg and the unseen Flash with a still unrevealed figure. "Injustice: Gods Among Us" debuts April 16th.

DC STATUES | The DC action figures mine from comic book and video game lore, and the DC Collectibes statues borrow from similar influences. First up, the Nightwing statue based on the character's appearance in "Batman: Arkham City." There's also a statue of Superman from the Man of Steel line designed by "Action Comics" penciler Rags Morales.

IRON MAN 3 | Another week, another group of "Iron Man 3" toys. This time, Diamond Select Toys showed off most of their 49th wave of Marvel MiniMates. This movie themed wave includes War Machine and Maya Hansen, plus Aldrich Killian with Cowboy Tony Stark which is exclusive to specialty stories. The Iron Man/Mandarin set and Iron Patriot with an unrevealed mystery figure are only available at Toys 'R' Us. (via MTV Geek)

IRON MAN 3 | Kotobukiya gives fans a detailed look at the Mark 42 armor from the upcoming Shane Black directed film. The 15 inch entry in the company's ARTFX line hovers over a water-like base and comes with LED lights in the eyes and an ARC reactor that can be turned on, off or set to light when the sound detector senses sound. The statue is available in July, a few months after the film's May 3 release date.

IRON MAN 3 | The Hot Toys "Iron Man 3" Mark XLII Power Pose Series is an interesting mix of statue and action figure. It's mostly in a flying and blasting pose, but there is some movement in the head and neck. Plus, it has LED lights. The 1:6 scale piece goes on sale in advance of the film's May release.

G.I. JOE: RETALIATION | You can't have Snake Eyes without his nemesis/pal Storm Shadow. Hot Toys thought the same thing and has a Storm Shadow figure in the works for their line of "G.I. Joe: Retaliation" figures. The toy looks exactly like Byung-hun Lee and comes with all kinds of sweet ninja weapons, hands and clothing options.

ASSASSIN'S CREED | McFarlane Toys is getting in on the Assassin's Creed toy game. The company announced on USA Today they're kicking off a line of six-inch figures with seven toys, including Connor in his "Assassin's Creed III" garb, Connor as Ratonhnhaké:ton and Haytham Kenway. Expect more of the line to be shown off this weekend.

VENOM | Spider-Man's number one nemesis Venom gets the respect he deserves from Diamond Select Toys' upcoming Marvel Select action figure. Instead of doing the usual base that comes with the rest of the pieces in this line, the sculptors decided to make different add on parts including classic, tongue-y and Eddie Brock revealing heads, as well as four sets of hands! The figure also comes with a "Madness" attachment with multiple tiny symbiote heads.

STAR TREK | DST also revealed a brand new version of the Klingon Bird of Prey ship as seen in "Star Trek III: The Search for Spock." This Action Figure Express exclusive ship looks like it's coming out of its cloaking mode, thanks to translucent green plastic, and features sounds and dialog from the film, plus light up portions.

STAR WARS | Around the time it was announced his son would be getting his own feature film, Jango Fett got his own installment in the ARTFX line of Star Wars statues from Kotobukiya. The piece comes with two different backpacks and swap-out arms to display Jango either with gun raised or at his side.

MASS EFFECT | Kotobukiya's Bishoujo line of PVC statues takes prominent pop culture characters and gives them a manga or anime influenced look. They've done superheroes on both sides of the Big Two as well as a female Ghostbuster, but now they have a much more feminine version of Commander Shepard from Mass Effect on deck. The piece is set for an April release.

TOYPOCALYPSE | While Toy Fair itself isn't open to the general public, Toypocalypse 3: Extratoyrrestrial is! Toypocalypse is an annual show at gallery TT Underground and Beerlao, focusing on the work of The Four Horsemen who, in addition to bringing back Outer Space Men and Power Lords, also create the Masters of the Universe Classics figures and more for Mattel. Follow the above link or check the image to see when the show's open.
